WE ARE HOME!!!!!!!!

We arrived home safe and sound. After many hours of travel, we were so happy to be in Philly and see our family. While we enjoyed our trip, we are so thankful to be home.

We are also so happy to have a soft bed (the beds in china are like laying your sheet on the garage floor, rock hard!), we enjoy true running water from the tap and the sights, sounds and smells of home.

As we look back, we have laughed, loved and grown so much. We joke that the journey was a combination of:

Super Nanny; we could use her help as new parents

Fear Factor; we had no idea what to expect or what was next

The Amazing Race; we were always on the go and in a rush to be some place

Survivor Island; sometimes we were not sure what we were eating and where it came from

We will keep up our adoption website and we thank you for sharing this amazing journey with us. We thank China for the gift of Alyssa and her precious life, laugh and love; she is truly our daughter in every way!

I'm coming too!

Here we come America!

The Legacy of an Adopted Child

Once there were two women
Who never knew each other
One you do not remember
The other you call mother.

Two different lives shaped to make yours one
One became your guiding star
The other became your sun.

The first gave you life
And the second taught you how to live it
The first gave you a need for love
And the second was there to give it.

One gave you a nationality
The other gave you a name
One gave you the seed of a talent
The other gave you an aim.

One gave you emotions
The other calmed your fears
One saw your first sweet smile
The other dried your tears.
One gave you up -
it was all that she could do
The other prayed for a child
And God led her straight to you.

And now you ask me through your tears
The age old question through the years
Heredity or environment - which are you the product of?
Neither my darling, neither
Just two different kinds of love.
