We have
been building our family for many years now
and cherish every moment that we have spent with our
boys since the fateful call on a sunny Sunday in May
2001 confirming that, after years of hoping and
striving, that we were, indeed, very pregnant, and
then the confirmation three weeks later that there
were two beating hearts and nine weeks after that
learning that each of our sons would have a brother
. Those twin hearts grew into our beloved, precious,
gorgeous and charming sons. And life has not been
the same since. Since their arrival we have dreamed
about adding a little girl, a daughter and sister,
to our family. Now, we await the arrival home of our
daughter Eva Grace!
The stories of how each of our children joined our
family are amazing ones full of journeys, hopes and
dreams. As we seek to expand our family beyond the
lines of blood and birth, the words of Fred Rogers
from his book Let's Talk About It: Adoption come to
mind “Bloodlines and lovelines don't necessarily
coincide. When it comes to growing into a healthy,
whole, and fulfilled human being, it is love that
counts the most." We trust that love will sustain us
through the next stage of our journey as parents and
as a family. |

Birthdays are special celebrations in our family
usually with three parties: the family party, the party
with friends, and, as here, the school party. Louis and
Nathaniel’s 6th birthday was a time of joy. We look forward
to rejoicing in Eva’s birthday as well!!

We love to celebrate the holidays – Christmas and
Hanukkah, Easter and Passover – with family and friends.
Decorating our house, preparing special meals. We look
forward also to celebrating Chinese New Year and the Mid
Autumn Festival as Eva and our family grow.

The roar of the waves, digging in the sand, body surfing
and resting in the sun – all of us love the beach and
return every year to witness the magic of the ocean and
the sand.

In 2006, we traveled to Calabria to the tiny village that
is birthplace of Colette's grandfather and home before he
traveled to America in his early teens. We visited with
family (immersed in Italian), ate pizza and fish and pasta
and gelato and biscotti, soaked in the warm Ionic Sea and
danced in the streets during the Festa di San Rocco, a
14th century French saint said to have brought cure for
the Plague to II Mezzogiorno – the South of Italy.

A routine Saturday grocery trip when Nathaniel and Louis
were two years old and happy, loving boys. Even the errands on
Saturday can be fun when shared.

Our Beloved Cat Lucy, age 10. Lucy and her tiger brother
Theo were our first twin babies. We lost Theo in December
2006 and not a day goes by that we do not miss him and
wish he could meet Eva when she arrives. “Cat!!” as
the boys used to point and say.
