LOGAN IS OFFICIALLY OURS!!!
And it's our 8th WEDDING
ANNIVERSARY!!!!
Last night was a LONG night. Logan fell asleep at 7:30pm just as
his orphanage schedule stated. At 9:30pm Brandon and I climbed
into bed. 5 minutes later Logan woke up screaming. He wouldn’t
calm down so we brought him into bed with us. That makes 4
people in a king sized bed. He tossed and turned all night
constantly. I know that he was totally overwhelmed by all the
changes that have taken place in his life. I just couldn’t sleep
with all the movement. I watched the clock the whole night and
at 3:45am Kiah and I got up and Brandon and Logan slept until
6am. I did email for a little bit then watched reruns of Alias
until I jumped into the shower at 5am. We made it down to
breakfast at 7am. Logan seemed to wake up in a good mood. He
didn’t want me out of his sight. At 8am we left for the Civil
Affairs office. When we arrived it was packed with families. I
was finally able to meet another family that I had been
corresponding with for the past couple of months. We sat down to
wait our turn when we looked up and saw Luke’s orphanage
director! She had come to process an adoption for her orphanage.
We waved her over to chat with her and she didn’t know who we
were. Even after I showed her Luke’s picture and gave her his
Chinese name…. she didn’t remember. I was not surprised… and it
really just makes Luke’s story all the more painful. We chatted
with her briefly before we were called up to do the adoption
paperwork. We were very worried that once Logan saw his
orphanage director Ms. Tang and his nanny that he would launch
into a crying fit. He didn’t!& nbsp; He sat calmly on my lap and
watched the Ms. Tang walk around. When she came to talk to Logan
he simply smiled at her. He never cried! When he spotted his
nanny in the corner he smiled and kicked his legs. We were able
to chat with the Ms. Tang for a while and we discussed our visit
to the orphanage on Thursday. We were then able to leave and the
nanny watched us from the window. She was wiping her eyes as we
got in the van and drove away. Ms. Tang told us that his main
nanny loved him very much and she was very upset on Monday
morning when he left. She said that his nanny loved him so much
that she frequently slept with him because she didn’t want him
to sleep alone in a crib. Ms. Tang is setting up a meeting with
her during our visit on Thursday.
After the Civil Affairs office we drove to the Mausoleum of Dr.
Sun Yat-sen. It was already very hot outside and we were not
dressed appropriately to climb 392 stairs. I wanted to just sit
and enjoy the view but our guide Chai wasn’t having any of that.
Logan has been glued to my hip since we got him yesterday and he
is HEAVY! Chai and I traded off carrying Logan up the stairs. We
got some pictures then we were ready to go. The rest of the day
was spent walking around town and shopping. By the end of this
evening Logan was able to ride in the stroller AND sit in a high
chair at Papa Johns! He is easy to feed and will eat ANYTHING.
He is a very sweet joyful little boy. We can see why everyone at
the orphanage simply loved him. He is opening up more and more
and we have only had 1 crying outburst today. He loved bath time
with Kiah. Kiah loves playing with Logan and he is captivated by
her. We can’t wait to get him home to meet the rest of the
family!!! |

He's officially ours!
