OUR LAST DAY IN GUANGZHOU
Today was our last day in Guangzhou and it was a FULL day! We
started the morning with a nice breakfast. We met several more
adoptive families including the family we had spoken with
yesterday right before their GOTCHA day. It was so nice to see
them with their new son!
We met our guide Bob in the lobby at 8:30am and then went to the
old Victory Hotel which is located around the corner so we could
pick up another Heritage family. We had a great time getting to
know them on the 40 minute drive to the safari. The safari was
worth EVERY PENNY! We started with a "safari on wheels" tour
which lasted about 45 minutes. We rode on large trams through
the open area of the safari park. We saw tons of animals! We
then walked through the "safari on foot" part of the park. It
was about 2 hours of walking but I think we saw every animal in
the park including many panda bears! Brandon fed a tiger and
held a snake! He passed on the chance to ride an elephant! I
thought for sure he would do that after the snake encounter! We
left the park at 1pm and rushed back to Lucy's for lunch. We had
1 hour to eat before we had to meet Bob for our appt to pick up
Logan's visa at the Guangzhou Consulate.
At 3pm we met Bob and rode 40 minutes to the Consulate. Each
time we come back for an adoption there appears to be less and
less adoptive couples. When we adopted Kiah in 2005 the
Consulate room was PACKED with families. When we adopted Luke
last year the room was 1/2 full. This time I think there may
have been 20 couples total. We took our oath and received
Logan's passport and visa. All the parents shouted "Hurry!". We
were in the office area about 15 minutes total. Quick and easy!
We left the Consulate and came back to the hotel to freshen up
before dinner. Bob took our family and the other Heritage family
out to eat an a Cantonese Restaurant. He ordered pigeon and
everyone indulged... except for me! I just couldn't go there.
The food was good but I didn't eat a lot. The kids were starting
to get cranky since the day was so hectic. We left the
restaurant at 7pm and decided to get some dessert. After dessert
we walked by the Pearl River to take in the beautiful night.
There was a nice breeze and the evening was delightful.
We are now back at the hotel and doing our final packing. We are
ready to go home!
This has been a fabulous trip... a trip totally blessed by the
Lord. He was everywhere around us paving the way. We give him
all the glory!!! Please pray for us as we travel home tomorrow.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for your prayers and support! We are so
thrilled that you followed our journey to Logan!
