HAPPY ADOPTION DAY!
"This is the day the
Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad!"
Today, SarahPearl became mine in the eyes of the Chinese
government. We
went back to the building that we met her at and went for
interviews
where I was asked some personal identifying information, such as
age,
occupation, and address. Then I was asked the for real
questions. "Why
China?" "Do I want her?" "Will I love her, and promise not to
abandon
her?" It was very emotional for me. It had taken a long time to
get to
this little girl. During this wait, my screensaver had a picture
of
SarahPearl and the words "Still being still in the Lord." So,
she is finally
mine and what a sweet girl she is!
Yesterday, we met another My
Adoption Website family while we waited for Sarah to come. (She
was more than
an hour late in her arrival time) Lily was back today with her
parents,
so we took some photos of the girls together. It was so fun to
watch
them sit side by side! There was also a couple that we met at
the
airport adopting a 10 year old. I am so glad they persevered in
their journey
to her, she has found certain love with them. I'm finding this
adoption community to b small enough, that we keep seeing the
same people in
the places we go and watching the transformation before our eyes
of
these children we have longed for. It is a wonderful experience.
As for our girl, she gave us a first smile and then a few more!
Meghan
has a way of having fun in life and was carrying her in a
bouncy,
playful movement and little SarahPearl just lit up! She waited
until Meghan
gave her a little bounce again, and then another smile! She also
showed
us that she could walk, holding a hand. Up to this point, she
would
collapse if we put her feet to the ground. Personally, I think
it was the
thrill of the new squeaky shoes we had bought her and he power
of the
sound they made! She had been very interested in Lily's new
shoes this
morning, as she walked around the Civil Affairs office. I think
she
could walk alone with a bit more confidence. She freezes when we
let go of
her hand and stands still with her arms out waiting for a Mama
or a
Jie-Jie to help her. She is so CUTE!
SarahPearl was sad today.
I think
she realized that her caregivers were gone every time she woke
up. She
would cry and then spend 5 minutes moaning. My heart ached for
her loss.
It is the only life and people she has known and it has to feel
so
strange for her to be out of her routine and with people she
doesn't know
or trust yet. She is also running a temperature and has quite a
bit of
congestion in her chest. Please pray for her health and
transition into
our family. Many thanks to those who have signed our guestbook!
It is
so encouraging for the three of us to read your comments. |
