DOCTOR DOCTOR
"When you love someone, all your saved up wishes start coming
out." ~Elizabeth Bowen
Once again, we were back at the doctor. SarahPearl's cough had
become worse and she seemed to be suffering from some type of
pain. She also puked all over herself and me. On the bright
side, her eyes are clearing up and the drops seem to working for
that. So, it was back for another breathing treatment and a
stronger antibiotic following a diagnosis of tonsillitis. Poor
thing! I can't imagine what she will be like when she is finally
well.
As for me, a massage was all I needed for my aching body. It was
wonderful, and I should have had one earlier, before all the
muscles were so sore. SP sat next to me on Meghan's lap during
the massage. You should have seen her eyes get wide when she saw
some of his techniques. I thought she would burst out laughing
once! I highly recommend the Massage Center for adopting
parents. We tend to forget about ourselves in this journey but
it really is labor and delivery.
We were able to get her in the carrier today and that also
really helped take some weight off my neck and shoulders. She is
such a sweetie and has had to have her arms locked around my
neck when I carry her. SarahPearl had not been happy when I
shifted her down or onto a hip for very long. It was really
great to have my arms free and certainly will be necessary when
we travel home.
We had another wonderful meal at the Cow and Bridge. I will
really miss that place.
All three of us have loved China during the time we have been
here. There is so much more to see. Both Meghan and Kate are
scheming ways to be back in a year.
That has been such a surprise, since none of us had it on our
radar to visit prior to the adoption. The history, customs, and
traditions have been so interesting to learn about and we have
only scratched the surface of SarahPearl's birth country. The
streets are exciting to be in and walking in them with this
wonderful little girl is really more pleasurable than I ever
dreamed. I hope I can hang on to that feeling.
Sarah Pearl has begun to laugh. Real, crack up laughter, that
she can't stop. She finds silliness in my voice saying "oh,oh"
and will repeat whatever she just did to hear me say it again,
and then just laugh. It is sweet music, and we have waited a
week for it. She has the cutest little teeth, a crossbite in the
front, that an orthodontist will have fun with, and then this
great laugh. I'm so glad we catch glimpses of her playful side.
She has been very much a watchful observer of the world around
her. We LOVE this kid!
Signing off from Guangzhou.
