"You can't stay in your corner of the Forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes." ~Winnie the Pooh

The trip from China to Rockford was 27 hours. Our flight from Guangzhou to Tokyo was great! Meghan and I were able to sit together and SarahPearl loved having her needs met quickly by Meghan who had an incredibly organized diaper bag. It felt like I had Mary Poppin’s bag with me, it was complete! The plane from Tokyo to Detroit was never ending. We sat on opposite sides of the plane and SP wanted nothing to do with Meg, only her Mama for most of that trip. One passenger on Meghan’s side traded seats with me for a few hours, so I had Meg’s company even if SarahPearl didn’t want it. SarahPearl finally slept a few hours. In Detroit, our flight was delayed to Chicago, so after Immigration and Customs, we still had plenty of time. I did get a little teary eyed when that brown envelope’s seal was broken and I saw the mountain of paperwork that had brought her here. She is a U.S. citizen now. She doesn’t understand what that means, she doesn’t know how difficult that is for some people to get. When we arrived in Chicago with a mountain of carry ons, I was so happy to see Michael waiting for us at the bottom of the escalator. What a welcome sight! No way am I taking that long of a flight anytime in the near future!

We are home! SarahPearl Yan Nan is finally my daughter! I have had few moments of clarity since I have been home between the jetlag/drag and holding onto my baby girl 24/7. She is just starting to leave my arms to explore her new toys as long as I am sitting next to her. After waiting so many months for her, she is finally here! I had wondered about her every day when she was across the world from me. I said her name throughout the day. I prayed that someone was taking care of her. Here she is, right in front of me. All the time! And it is better than I could have ever imagined. She is more real. My life has changed.

Looks Like We Made It!

She is sooo tired.

Enjoyed the new bath and toys.

What a great laugh.

SarahPearl, my daughter.

Finding the silly sounds this toy makes.

Our hearts have been forever changed by this adoption journey. As Paul wrote to the Romans 1:12 "I'm eager to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours. In this way, each of us will be a blessing to the other." Thank you to our family and friends for making a difference in the life of our family and especially in the life of this little girl, named Guan Yan Nan.
