“The journey of a thousand miles must being with a single step” ~Lao Tzu

Spring 2006
We began discussing becoming parents.

September 2006
We decided we were ready to become parents.
We decided that adoption was the way we wanted to create our family.
We decided to adopt from China.

October 2006
We began gathering the required paperwork.

February 2007
We completed gathering the last of our required paperwork.
We had all of our paperwork notarized and certified.

March 2007
We had all of our paperwork authenticated.
We sent our dossier to China.

April 11, 2007
We received our official “Log In Date” from the CCAA.

July 2007
We were notified that our dossier was in the translation room.

August 2007
We were notified that our dossier was waiting for the review room.

October 2007
We decided to pursue the possibility of adopting an older child.

January 15, 2008
We saw Ge, Yu in a picture for the first time.
We sent in our request to be considered as parents for Ge, Yu.
We started learning everything we could about sensorineural deafness.

January 17, 2008
We were notified that we had been selected to receive the file for Ge, Yu to
decide if we wished to be her parents.

January 22, 2007
We sent our “Letter Of Intent” to adopt Ge, Yu to the CCAA.

February 3, 2008
We received our “Pending Approval” acceptance letter from the CCAA.

We learned today that we are through the final review.
Our "Letter Seeking Confirmation" was issued on March 24, 2008.

May 5, 2008
We received our Travel Approval from the Chinese government today.
As soon as we have updated fingerprints, we can bring Amalie home.

May 8, 2008
We were refingerprinted today.
Unfortunately our current fingerprints expire May 14, 2008.
We must have current fingerprints to schedule our travel to China.
So...we are begging for rushed updating.

May 13, 2008
We were told today that our updated I-171H is in the mail.
Our agency requested our consulate appointment.

May 14, 2008
We received our consulate appointment for June 23, 2008.
We bought out airline tickets...we are going!

May 30, 2008
We fly out of Spokane at 5:30 AM...YIKES! & HURRAH!

June 25, 2008
We fly home from China/Hong Kong with Amalie.
Follow the adventure beginning May 30, 2008 until June 25th on the "In China" page.
