February 25, 2009 we had requested to speak with someone in our agency about looking into the special needs program. We spent a small amount of time speaking with our agency on Thursday about what they needed from us and reviewed a list of special needs to see what we felt we would be able to handle as a family. On Friday we spoke with our agency again to discuss the special needs we would be looking for.

Before this time, we did not know that a batch of special needs children were on the way. Since we were looking for a child with mild special needs, we thought our agency would be looking for months before they actually found a child for us to review. On February 28, 2009 at 10:00pm we received a call that our agency had a file for us to look at.

We reviewed her file, asked 3 doctors and Aunt Melissa (pediatric nurse) to look it over. Everything they saw looked good. On March 1, 2009 we informed our agency that we would like this child. We sent our Letter of Intent to them that night.

The agency told us that they thought this was the shortest time ever for placing a child once the family decided to look at the special needs list.
