Hello from Indianapolis,

We had a great trip but it is so nice to be home. I am sorry that it has taken so long to post an update. I had always read that the jet lag is horrible, when you get home but I didn’t realize how bad it would really be!

Our trip home was very long. After about 24 hours of travel, we were excited to land in Indianapolis. Our flight left China at 8:15 am (China time) and our last flight arrived in Indianapolis at 6:15 pm on the 11th!

The kids did very well on the flights home. Ava wasn’t too sure of the seatbelts but we made it through. We were so happy, once we arrived in Detroit and saw the Taco Bell sign! Ava had her first taco and seemed to like it.

When we passed through customs, in Detroit, Ava officially became a US citizen! We arrived in Indianapolis and were so happy to see everyone that came out to welcome us home. It was great to see familiar faces. They had balloons and welcome home signs. Ava was a bit overwhelmed, I am sure, but she did very well. The next great thing was that Ava got right in her car seat. She didn’t seem to mind it. I am sure since her brothers were all strapped in as well.

We made it home and were surprised with more welcome home signs, balloons and even dinner, milk and bread! We were so grateful and appreciate everything that everyone has done for us.

Ava was greeted by our Golden Retriever, Sydney. She was pretty overwhelmed and scared to death. I am sure that she has never seen a dog that big! Since then, she has been slowly warming up to the dog. The word, in China, for dog is (Go). She says it all of the time and wants to find Sydney around the house. She will pet her but she still doesn’t want to be too close to her.

The boys were anxious to show Ava her new room. She seemed to like it and jumped right on her bed. The first couple of nights Ava has slept in her own bed. She is doing very well. The rest of us are still having a hard time with our sleep schedule. We are so tired by late afternoon and then up at 1 or 2 in the morning!

Our first weekend home has been very busy. The boys started soccer and football. Ava attended her first games and did very well. We went to Church on Sunday morning. It was nice seeing so many familiar faces. The boys started back to school today. Ava greeted them at the door when they returned home.

We want to again thank everyone who has signed our guestbook. We have really enjoyed all of the posts. This website will be a great keepsake for Ava someday. I also want to thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers. We made it to China and back without any problems. We all stayed healthy and Ava seems to be adjusting well. We will be posting monthly updates so be sure to check back. We are excited that our family is complete and we can’t wait for the months to come. There are so many firsts, for Ava that we can’t wait to enjoy.

Our family came to the airport to welcome Ava home.
