Yes, we are all home safe and sound!
It has been just about 3 weeks since we arrived home from our
epic trip to China. The flight home went well as it was an
overnight flight and all 13 babies on the aircraft (yes there
were 13) slept most of the night. Emily was appropriately
dressed as we landed in Canada – a proud new Canadian!
A welcome party awaited us at the airport, and from there we
went to Emily’s 3rd bed in so many weeks… when would we stop
moving!
It took her about 2 weeks to realize that this bed was going to
be hers for a while, but she still fusses at bed time, as if she
is afraid to fall asleep (wondering where she will wake up – and
whom she will wake up with!)
Her two first teeth have now grown in, but getting a picture of
them has been another story. We have many many many pictures of
her tongue, her closed mouth, as well as her cheek as she swings
her head to avoid the picture. With the help of daddy, we
finally managed to get a photographic glimpse of the new
dentition! So cute! She is happily using these tools to try all
kinds of foods, and loving everything we give her, so far
(except turkey!?! She didn’t like that at all!?!)
She has already met some new friends, has celebrated
Thanksgiving with family, played with her pet rabbit, and even
been apple picking (ok, daddy picked the apples, but Emily
gnawed on some and has a great time!)
Everyday is special with Emily; she still has many new friends
to meet, and has new experiences everyday – just yesterday she
figured out how to push/pull herself into a standing position,
first steps here I come! And today, her babbling syllable of
choice was /pa/, making ‘papa’ very happy! I’ve heard /ma/
amongst the rest of her babbles, so I know /mama/ is not too far
off!
I will post another update in about 1 month from now, and I
can’t wait to report all the amazing things that Emily has done
and learned in that time! |
