Congratulations! After serving in primary for 12 years, I certainly recognized the lyrics to the song you have on your website! As we were in the "decision phase" so many primary songs really hit me hard--especially "I am a Child of God", when it says, "Has given me an earthly home with parents kind and dear," and I realized that that isn't true for so many children. Best of luck to you all. We're leaving for China in just a few days and will have our little girl in our arms on the 23rd! Feel free to follow along! www.genericnewsletter.citymaker.com Bye, Eileen Beck

I'm so excited for you. It was wonderful reading about your first day. Fevers and illness happen most of the time--I actually haven't known personally any child that didn't end up ill those first days, if they weren't already. I figure it's probably the stress!! :-) Congratulations on your beautiful daughter. Teri W.

To Chloe's new parents: We are a family who adopted a baby from Hunan province in early 2005; at the time Madelyn was 13 months old but looked, acted and was the size of a baby about half that age. We have been home for a year and a half, and while our little girl will never be very large she is fine in every way. She is still wearing 18-month clothing at age two and a half - she's really, really small! We are learning to just plan accordingly and help her in every way possible. I know it's scary with any child to have developmental delays (which Madelyn also had but has overcome with lots of hard work and love), but I send you best wishes in helping Chloe be the best person she can be - look to the future is great advice, and best wishes for a safe trip home and the road ahead. John and Crystal - I love all the pictures, Chloe is so darling! Sarah and even Meigan thinks she is absolutly cute and adorable. Crystal, please know that I know what you were feeling but really Chloe will develop and catch up so quickly that you won't believe what you were upset about. Remember I told you about the little baby that we thought was a premature birth. Even she changed so much the second week. Chloe too will change so much in the next week as she continues to bond to all of you. We look forward to welcoming all of you back home and meeting Chloe. (Plus then I can get Meigan to stop finding all these things at the store and saying "This is for Cohwee." All our love and thoughts and prayers are with you and we are anxiously waiting for you to get home! Have fun in Guangzhou!!! (And no, the beds don't get any better!) Don't shop too much Crystal (hahaha) With lots of love - Scott, Liese and family

Crystal, Something I forgot to tell you that might be important. In many orphanages, they put sugar in the formula. If you are using American formula, that may be why she won't drink it? She drinks the juice which is sweet. I wouldn't advocate it on a long-term basis, but maybe, for now, it might be worth trying a little sugar in her formula to see if she will drink it if it's sweetened. It might help her gain weight. Another thing is how large is the hole in the nipple? If she doesn't have a strong suck reflex, and has to work too hard at it, she might not be willing to do that, especially if she doesn't think it tastes that great. :-) So maybe cutting the hole a little larger would help, so it's easier to suck and she has to swallow because she's getting a mouthful. Teri W.

Hi Crystal, I just wanted to tell you that Chloe and the rest of your family are beautiful. Try not to worry about feeling anxiety over Chloe's development. We adopted twins 11 years ago and I worried myself sick and felt so bad that I had doubts about their progress. I've learned through the years that it is perfectly normal to feel during an adoption. BTW my girls are healthy and happy. We are almost DTC for our 3 yr old daughter Jia-Li. Our website is being done by Jen & Joe too. I have become addicted to looking at the other journeys, thats how I found yours. God Bless your beautiful family. Lesa

Dear Cook Family; Kalani and I tried to catch you before we had to go to the airport but failed. We just arrived home in Orlando, no problems with the trip. Emily did great, in fact she came out of her shell and is smiling and talking up a storm. I can't begin to tell you all how much we enjoyed our time together. It was very special, in fact I was almost glad we didn't get to say goodbye face to face because I may have lost it. Thanks for the friendship and I'm certain we'll stay in touch. Dom
