Our Story

December 2, 2004 . . . The day I (Crystal) will never forget. I had the TV on and a show was doing a story on “China’s one child policy”. I had seen these kinds of stories on orphans around the world a hundred times. I always thought “I’m so glad that others can help” and my life went on. I had never thought about adoption before but this day was different. I cried through the entire show and I could not get this out of my mind. I called John and through my crying and shallow breaths all that I said when he answered was “I need eighteen thousand dollars” and his response “well okay, what for?” I proceeded to tell him why and I said this show would replay that night at mid-night and I would record it so he could watch. The next day John watched the show and through his tears he turned to me and said “ok”. We both knew this was next in our journey together. For the next 72 hours nothing got done. I mean nothing. No one could pull me from the computer. Through all my research I found an agency and on there was a picture of our friends little girl and they were leaving for China in 10 days. I had no idea what agency they were using.

We told my (Crystal) family at our family Christmas party a couple weeks later. On Jan 17th 2005 our application was sent to our agency and the paper-chase began. Our Dossier was sent to China on May 28th (our wedding anniversary) and we were logged in on Jun 8th 2005 (LID) with the “CCAA” (China Center for Adoption Affairs). Then the wait began, what was suppose to be a six month wait turned into a year and it was very hard.

Our Heavenly Father has known what He had planned for us from the start. With Gratitude we thank Him for all our Blessings and to be able to raise four of His Precious Children. He continues to bless us Spiritually. So many have said “how lucky she is” but we feel we are the luckiest family ever.

Ancient Chinese Belief…
“An invisible red thread connects those that are destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but will never break.”

We continue to find our red threads in this incredible journey to bring our new baby girl home to her Forever Family.

With Love,

John and Crystal
