Trip to China
All Days  |  Previous Day  Next Day

Sunday, November 4, 2007

Happy Birthday Ting! Today was her third birthday. We celebrated with any girl’s favorite pastime-shopping. We picked up a silver bangle and a pink jade one. We also bought five pairs of adorable “squeaky” shoes for just over two USD per pair. We ended the day having pizza for dinner with Tammy and her family and than doing some more shopping.

Here are some things you might want to know about Ean:

He likes to hoard toilet paper; he’ll put as much as he can in his pockets or just carry huge balls of it around with him.

He still won’t let his dad or any of the kids touch him.

He loves squeaky shoes, and doesn’t care if they’re pink and girly.

He has beautiful teeth and a winning smile.

He won’t leave a restaurant without some food in his hand.

He gives the best kisses when we are lying in bed together.

He is content playing by himself.

He eats like a truck driver.

He likes to tell on Ting “No Ting”. She likes to tell on him also.

He is very independent; he can get himself dressed and undressed.

If the boys ask him in Chinese if they can hold his hand, he will respond in Chinese “No you can not hold my hand”, and smile slyly.

He speaks excellent Chinese; talking in full sentences.

He says very funny things in Chinese-as translated by our guide. For example, he was trying to stock pile some seeds in a tissue and they fell to the floor, he pouted and said to the guide “It’s all ruined now!”

Please continue to “sign” the guestbook; we all look forward to reading what’s been posted!

Eli's Entry

Today was better than other days, because it was Ting’s birthday. Breakfast was great, though I’m missing the eel at the last hotel; but omelets and fruit cured my apatite till lunch. At breakfast we saw my mom’s friend Tammy and we asked her if she had the phone number for the lady at the red thread (which is a guiding service that will take you to the market places in the city). Thank god she did. I didn’t think I could shop on the island any more. All the same garbage over and over and over. Even though I extremely dislike shopping on the island that is what we did for most of the day. But again I got to go to Lucy’s for lunch. I had some fish and chips, then back to more shopping. I didn’t get anything from the stores; the only cool stuff they had at any of the stores were the swords, which were still pretty dull. But we did get some of my friend’s Chinese scrolls with their name on them in Chinese. That got a little off of my chest. We shopped for the rest of the day, then back to the hotel for sleep. Thank the heavens.

Ean and Ting on Shamian Island in Guangzhou.
