Free day! I will admit I do not have much to report tonight as EmmeClaire and I have not left the room since we came back from breakfast. But maybe I will make some stuff up and you will not know what really happened…..

So EmmeClaire was STILL asleep at 8:30 AM (that part I could not make up if I tried). When she finally did get up we got her ready to head downstairs. We found out the other family also slept in so we went to our “usual” table ready to hit the breakfast bar. Gee, we have been here long enough to have a “usual” table. EmmeClaire got quite the sampling of breakfast foods this am to see more of what she might eat. She ate eggs, pumpkin, rolls, congee, and watermelon. We hung out in the lobby to watch the fish and turtles. I guess we were not very entertaining because pretty soon EmmeClaire was asleep though it was only a quick catnap.

We went upstairs so the dads could prepare for their trip to Lotus. We made a list and off they went. EmmeClaire and I hit the bottle….of formula that is….and she was out for 2 hours.

Lunch came late for sleepy girl – noodles….she put away a whole adult size plate of noodles. Not sure WHERE she put it because her clothes are not any close to fitting than before she started the noodles but she was happy. It was time for more work with her personal trainers (aka mom and dad) and we have moved from being able to put her on the bed and she would not move to needing bedrails because she rolls and scoots all over the place.

The big field trip was planned for late this afternoon to…drumroll…PIZZA HUT. However when the time came it was getting close to yet again naptime so EmmeClaire and I stayed back and everyone else hit the road. Well, EmmeClaire had other ideas (I think she has been talking to her brother). She slept about 15 minutes when her coughing woke her up. That was it. She would not go back to sleep for anything…..

By the time the Pizza Hut search team came back, over two hours later she had eaten about every snack we had and played with all the toys (which usually means throwing them across the room). Most importantly MOM was starving. Yeah….what came through the door was NOT “piping hot cheese on a lightly sauced bread, hold the meat because you just never know”….NOOOO what came through the door was a crumpled up KFC bag and a weak excuse about getting lost and never finding Pizza Hut. Really? I do not eat KFC in the US…..why would I here? So it was peanut butter sandwich time….again….

We decided to get EmmeClaire some rice since they assured us yesterday she loves rice. We were doubtful since the other night we tried it and she spit it out all over me – literally. Well, apparently she wants to join the “Rice=Ants” club with mommy and her friend Karol because she did the same thing again. So we tried Cream of Wheat. This was our second attempt since the first had been so successful we were hopeful but this time it was plain, old original kind with not a spot of brown sugar in sight. She was not crazy about it. So we decided to work some more on our exercises….and that included LAUGHING. She is one ticklish little thing. It was really quite funny to see her laugh so hard….and nice to hear her really get going laughing.

She is back in bed and sleeping hopefully until morning. Tomorrow we are going to a museum with our guide. We have NO IDEA what kind of museum but as long as it has ac, I am good with it. Jim found online tonight that there is a Zhengzhou City Zoo nearby….and if it was not like 100+ plus humidity we might go but just do not think any of us want to attempt that.

One thing we both forgot about in our dazed and confused state last night was being handed a cd of pics from the social worker from Florida. Jim looked on it this afternoon to find pics of EmmeClaire dating back as early as June 2011. These were all pictures that we had not seen. There were also pictures of the orphanage. I am so very happy, and surprised, to have these pictures. I think this is just another example of the kind people that are working at this particular orphanage. We also got a camera back yesterday that we had “sent” through a care package service back in June. I am anxious to get it home so we can see what kind of pictures they took for her.

As for the photos tonight….we did not leave the room much remember….so limited. (This is not admitting defeat to Team Lucy…and getting a third party to enter pics does NOT meet the qualifications!! Nice try!) One of the pictures is from Monday. It was on our little camera that did not get used much after she got there. I forgot we even had pictures on it. The picture was after EmmeClaire came in the building with the orphanage escorts. I was fairly certain it was her but was afraid to go over until we got the go ahead from our guide.

In the one of her with the Cheerio in her mouth (yes, she is always eating) she is proudly displaying a bib that was passed on to her a few years ago….See over 11 years ago our family welcomed the first of the current “youngest” generation with the arrival of a certain little girl, code name Special K. That is when Nana P’s (aka my mom) started her little “only family and special people” bib production. It has become at times the source of amusement in my family as to what might show up on a bib for the current baby (…and more will show up on EmmeClaire in the coming days so keep an eye out for them!) One of the ones she made for this little girl is the one in this picture. It was given to HER Nana (aka AJ – my mom’s sister) who at the time still lived in Ohio. The bib was to be used when the “little” girl visited Ohio. That “little” girl grew up…and will be starting middle school (yikes) in a few weeks. Along with some other things, like some crib sheets and baby bath towels, the bib was given to us before Adam came home. I put it aside and it has been in hiding for a few years with the intent to bring it here when we finally made it. Nana, I told you I had things up my sleeve…. :)

So that is all for now….told you it would not be much tonight!

Adam: Hey Buddy! One more week and we will be home! I hope you are willing to check out of Camp Aunt Jill and Uncle Mike….I told Aunt Jill they need to stop doing such fun stuff or you may not want to come home!! I know you are having a great time and I hope you are behaving. Have fun!! XOXOX Mommy
