Today we spent the morning and afternoon at the Summer Palace.
China Emperors and their family visited the summer palace for
relaxation and vacation during the summer. As our guide shared
with us it was a luxurious life during the summer.
It was a perfect day to visit the Summer Palace, with the sky
blue, a cool 60 degrees with a light breeze. Our guide was
fantastic as we learned about the history and culture. We walked
the longest outdoor corridor in China, which is beside a
beautiful lake. The corridor is painted with flowers for good
luck and has pictures that portray stories from Chinese history.
Later we crossed the lake in a dragon boat. It was breathtaking!
Then as we stood under the largest pavilion in China a group of
people were singing. Our guide shared the song was from the
1950’s and the older generation would sing songs and play
instruments in the park to remind them of their youth. Looking
toward the bridge and mountain with the singing in the
background I just tried to soak in everything for a wonderful
memory to keep. |
