Well, Evie took her first plane ride today (and her 2nd) to get
to Guangzhou. We all did great on the flights, but it was a busy
day.
It is such a different landscape here. We went from the dry,
desert heat to the humid, green, palm trees. It is amazing here!
Our hotel is beautiful. Our room has a huge view of the Pearl
River. Tonight there was a light show and music. We could see it
from our room. There are boats of all sizes constantly traveling
the river with bright lights flashing. It reminds you a little
of the lights in Las Vegas.
When we returned from our Thai dinner the hotel had turned down
our beds, with slippers and a special feet mat with a container
holding 2 delicious chocolates. It feels like we are on a
vacation here! We are basically on a small island that is filled
with shops and little restaurants. The area really caters to
adoptive families. As you walk the streets there are gardens
along side full of lush, green shrubs, plants, and trees. It is
really wonderful. What a change to go from China’s poorest
province to the prosperity of the South.
We think Evie is starting to warm up more to us because we are
finding out she can do a few more things than we thought, such
as wave bye, say bye, and give kisses in the air. One of her
kisses actually landed on my hand today. We are so in love with
her. Scott said tonight as we were watching the light show from
our window ( I first had to convince Evie the light show was
better than the brass knobs on the cabinet) that having Evie in
our lives is the best thing we have ever done. I have to agree! |
