HOT, HOT, HOT, and HUMID! That is how I would describe today.
Evie and I went with our guide to an outdoor art museum today.
Evie slept through about half of it. Then we went to the Pearl
and Jade Market. I always envisioned that to be this large
outdoor market with small vendors everywhere selling pearls and
stones. However it is more like a large shopping mall full of
vendors specializing in different stones, pearls, clothing,
electronics, and more. Our guide steered us to the reputable
stores that would sell high quality and give good discounts. I
bought several strands of pearl necklaces and a jade pendant for
myself and Evie. It was so hot waiting in each of the shops.
Scott later told me he checked the weather and it was 85 degrees
and 75% humidity. I couldn’t believe how hot it was-it felt
hotter and more humid than Mexico last summer.
After the market our group ate a Cantonese restaurant. The food
was good, but I was glad when we headed for the cool hotel room
and Scott. Evie did wonderful with me all day. I was really
surprised since it was so hot. She rode in her stroller and was
very patient as I shopped. I have been trying to get a variety
of gifts to give to Evie on each of her Gotcha Day Anniversaries
from the age of 2-18. Some of the gifts are small and some are
more meaningful. It has really been fun to try to pick out gifts
for the different ages.
Tonight we are waiting for Papa John’s to deliver a pepperoni
pizza to our room. Tomorrow I am planning on hanging low and
getting some rest (Evie and I are both a little on the cranky
side.)
Coming home soon!
P.S. At the restaurant I had a very major diaper challenge. I
felt like I was on Survivor and had to improvise with the
supplies on hand. I think I passed, but just barely. (I will
spare you all the details)
