We would like tell all those who have posted to our guestbook how much their kindness, thoughts, prayers and support have meant to us. Sometimes we speak of red threads and the connections they represent. We would submit that there are additional threads of many colors that form a network of friendship and family that make it so that we adopt each other in a way. That kind of commitment is indeed to be cherished - and we do. Thank you all from the Snider family.

Today Mommy was sick with a tummyache so Wenyan and I cleared out early to leave her to mend. I just didn't feel like going to the downstairs buffet...it is great with all the babies, but sometimes feels like Denny's. I didn't know that since our visit in '03 they had changed the 2nd floor buffet to non-adoptive family business and vacationing folk. So I flashed Sophie's picture, (always sure to elicit an "aahhh how pretty") and told them how an older and very well behaved young woman like Wenyan would not spoil the ambience, so they let us in. As I passed the lovely lady playing the piano I sang one of the verses of "Scarborough Fair" and told her how beautifully she played. When I left, the manager of the buffet told me we could eat breakfast there for the rest of the trip. I'll sing for that supper any day. (photo is right - in my opinion the Pearl River is prettier at night)

Then we went to the zoo and had a wonderful time. Wenyan not only enjoyed seeing the animals but using her digital camera. I have posted a couple of hers for everyone's viewing enjoyment.

Rain and Mommy's waning stomachache washed out the rest of the day so we took it easy. Wenyan continues to bond and attach like nobody's business and I couldn't be prouder or happier to be her father. I didn't know what to expect adopting an instant teenager into the family. We have been pleasantly surprised that even though she shares some common teenage behaviors, (blowing us off with a look of "you don't really know what you're talking about - do you?" is one I've especially become attached to...stopping at my 1st opportunity), she also surprises us with voluntary obedience to new habits like brushing her teeth three times a day, (while reminding us whenever we forget like she invented the practice.)
