Quiet Sunday...

Today Wenyan went to her first church meeting of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints which has a small branch of mostly U.S. citizens who live and work in Guangzhou or other areas of the Guangdong province. They meet in an apartment building 10-15 minutes from the White Swan Hotel. The young women's organization welcomed Wenyan and made her feel very much at home. I thought she would want to stay with me for the Sunday School and other meetings, but I barely had time to say good-bye as she went off with a sister to class with another young woman.

In the evening we all went on a Pearl River dinner cruise that passes some of the most majestic and glitziest office and apartment buildings in Guangzhou.

Everyone is excited to get the US consulate paperwork over the next couple of days done so we can get to Beijing and thus closer to home...
