Comments: I was doing my weekly check of the websites and saw your recent posting. I had seen some of your trip and remembered your adorable little guy. We, too adopted a boy with cleft lip and palate. We felt the same way you did about the surgery--you fall in love with their face and you don't want it to change. Then the surgery is over, all has gone well and he is even more handsome when you didn't think that was possible!! Glad the surgery went well. He sure is a cutie!

Comments: Congratulations!!! You don't know me but we adopted our son on Dec. 4th from the same orphanage. Our babies were there together. I happened upon you sight, as I love to read other people's stories and usually end up crying. Our son, Luke, was brought to us by the same caregiver, I noticed by the pictures. We also were given a memory book and CD of pictures. I couldn't believe our good fortune to be able to share those memories with him. Luke was also born with a cleft lip and palate. His lip was repaired in China about a month before we got him. Three weeks ago, this Thursday, his palate was repaired. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to write. I would love to send you pictures of Luke, you would be amazed by how he looks. They are truly precious angels. Only someone who has gone through this experience and really understand everything you feel. Enjoy your truly amazing gift. Christine
Comments: Congratulations on the wonderful arrival of your son and it has been wonderful to follow your journey to become a family. I was especially interested in your top tips for things to do and noticed that you were particularly taken with the Gift from China shop. I am a trustee of the charity (a very small UK and Hong Kong based charity) The Good Rock Foundation which is the body behind the Gift from China shop. We were wondering if you would mind if we used a quotation from your web blog to promote the shop - totally anonymously of course. The shop's income is vital to maintain the work of the charity but because of the slowdown in adoptions and the moving of the US consulate the income has dropped by 20%, so we are very keen to promote the shop as much as possible. We would love to give the shop a plug on the APC yahoo group and using a recent quotation would be great. Please do contact myself to talk further about this With many thanks and very best wishes for the weeks and months ahead Vicky - mum to three, including Lucy adopted Feb 2006 from Hubei

Comments: Dear Dan and Erin, We have thoroughly enjoyed reading your posts and are in love with your family. We love your heart for baby Nicholas. What a beautiful little boy!! How happy you all look. Although we don't know one another in person, in many ways we are very much connected. We too adopted a son with a special need. If you ever want to meet our Peyton you can visit our website at Journey to Peyton. We are so in love with this little guy. We just left China back in February. We agree...God is so good. We love how he creates families and know that there is a special plan for these little ones who, shall we say, draw a little bit more attention than the average adopted child. One thing they won't miss is the love that radiates from Nicholas's new mommy and daddy's face! Enjoy every minute and God bless! Steve, Cathy, Olivia (adopted daughter-China) and Peyton (adopted son-China)

I am so glad to hear he is feeling better and I am sure the sleepness first few night will become a very faint memory (I speak from experience). I can't wait for Ruby to meet her new cousin. Take care and enjoy every moment over there. Love you guys xxx
Comments: Hi Erin, Dan and Nicholas, I heard your wonderful news from Karen, although Richand and I have only met you a few times it was always good to see you. I know how much you will love your 'little one', when you wait so long it is a very special thing. As Karen said we can't wait to meet Nicholas, and watch him running around at Matsons with Ella and Owen. Have a good trip home. Tricia.
Comments: Erin! I haven't seen you in years...since high school, band, and winterguard. Imagine my surprise when I checked in on the "families in China" and saw you and your handsome son! Congratulations! We just brought home our daughter, Madeline Rae FuMan (Maddie Rae) from Guangdong in October. She also has cl/p. Let me know if you need anything. We live in Hong Kong (moving back to the US this summer) and are in the process of all the cl/p surgeries. Nicholas is adorable. All the best to your family. I am thinking back to the day you found out you had a son and the rush of emotions you had and now you actually get to hold him with I am sure what will be another rush of emotions. We all do it the first time we see and hold our child. I am glad you were able to enjoy one last bit of a "vacation" before becoming parents. I am disappointed you did not experience some of the bizarre foods. We cannot wait to see the pictures. I have Hannah just as interested in your journey as I am, she waits every day for the updates too. God Bless, Michelle and Hannah
Comments: Reading your story is bringing tears to my eyes. It sounds very familiar. I can hear my son giggling upstairs as Daddy tries to put him to bed. We brought Owen home from China in May of 2007. He too had cleft lip and palate. He has brought more enjoyment to our lives than we ever thought possible. I wish you the best. Enjoy this amazing trip!!! Maria(mother of Owen--"journey to Owen" website)
