About Nicholas

An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet,
regardless of time, place, or circumstance.
The thread may stretch or tangle, but it will never break.
~An ancient Chinese belief

Lian Wu Yu, soon to be Nicholas Lian was born in Jiangsu Province, the Peoples Republic of China on May 26, 2007. He was found in Lianyungang City and is waiting for us there.

HIS NAME

“Lian” is one character in Lianyungang.

“Wu” has partial tone with the character of “five”, means he entered the institute in May.

“Yu” means “universe”.

Nicholas means “victorious” and we wanted to keep a part of his Chinese name. Lian represents where he is from and we never want him to forget that.

According to the initial reports we received “Lian Wu Yu is active and outgoing, with round faces, large eyes, fair and ruddy skin. He is fond of music and quick in reaction. He gets along well with other kids. When someone holds and teases him, he will laugh happily and look around.” His medical report stated he was uncooperative with the vision screen…totally our child!

We received updated information on February 15 and were happy to see that he is growing and is developmentally on track. He was 27.5 inches and 17.5 pounds in size and has 3 teeth.

When we looked back to see what we were doing on the date of his birth, we were busy buying and planting our garden. Little did we know…

That on the other side of the world a family was making the most difficult decision. We will always keep in our prayers and thoughts Nicholas’ first family for whom we are most grateful.

LEGACY OF AN ADOPTED CHILD

Once there were two women who never knew each other
One you do not remember, the other you call Mother

Two different lives shaped to make you one
One became your guiding star, the other became your sun

The first one gave you life, and the second taught you to live it
The first gave you a need for love, the second was there to give it

One gave you a nationality, the other gave you a name
One gave you a talent, the other gave you aim

One gave you emotions, the other calmed your fears
One saw your first sweet smile, the other dried you tears

One made an adoption plan, that was all that she could do
The other prayed for a child, and God led her straight to you.

Now, which of these two women, Are you the product of?
Both, my darling, Both, Just two different types of love.
