Monday, June 7, 2010 Six months with Jenny! Exactly six months ago today, at approximately 10:40 in the morning, Jenny was brought to our hotel room in Lanzhou, China, and placed in my arms by her wonderful foster Mother, who cared for her since she was 6 days old. Jenny was abandoned at 1 day old, and only in the orphanage for six days, when on Dec 24, 2008, she was placed with a family who, we feel, loved her and took great care of her while she awaited her forever family. Half a year already! The time has flown by! December 7, 2010, will be a day our family will never forget, our "Gotcha Day" for Jenny. From the moment we saw Jenny, she has flourished, loved us, and trusted us. We have built the bond over the last 6 months by letting her know we are always here and will never leave her. Jenny has come a long way. She couldn't hold a cheerio, walk, crawled slowly, and was a "baby" in a lot of ways. (She was also bald!) Today, she is walking (like Frankenstein), with her arms out still, eating great, using a sippy cup, speaking more words, and sleeping in her crib more at night! Although at first, I wanted the transition to go smoother, (and faster) I realize now it really takes time. She knows who her family is, and won't go to strangers so eagerly anymore. Her Brother Dan is home from college for the summer, and their bonding is continuing. He even gave her a "time out" today while babysitting her! Here are some things we want you to know about Jenny: She has hair! She still has a deep voice. She has the greatest laugh. She is very loveable and gives hugs. She has a temper, can be funny, and also "fresh" at times. She came to us with 8 teeth, and now has 14! She has the cutest dimples. She has big feet! She loves our pool! She loves the dog(s)- we have one left. She is the light of our lives, and we LOVE Jenny!!!! Sometimes we can't believe she is here, and ours, but she is, and we are grateful forever!
