Annslee was all about daddy the whole time we were in Wuhan. She wouldn't let me hold her the first three days...I thought, hey, I did all the paperwork!!! Needless to say we got a stroller the second day b/c Mark's back was killing him. By the time we got to Guangzhou she was equally thrilled with us. I am glad to see her smiles : ) I always tried to remember that we had been waiting our whole lives for her..we were preparing our hearts but she had no idea we were coming. Dear Jia, Jane and Joe, I talked to Grandma Marguerite this afternoon and we talked all about your trip and events. She is so excited to meet you and hug all of you when you get home. She had to tell me all about your phone call home with so much enthusiasm, it was great! She's busy with the rummage sale and she has a new air conditioner at home. She and Grandma Esther cancelled their Sunday routine because of the 100+ degree weather! And, it's over one hundred in San Diego today, so we are all together in sharing the hot weather! I remember this time for my brother when he adopted their little girl Grace from Korea. Aniticipation, hope, dreams, fears, all wrapped up in joy. I know for them the adjustment time was difficult at times, but so rewarding, and the pain of any transition was quickly forgotten as Grace began to adapt and to love them. We adopted our Vietnamese daughter at 7 weeks old, and five years later I'm still moved to tears when reading other people's adoption stories. If they weren't so far apart in age I would swear she was Annslee's twin. Reading your descriptions cracked me up. Annslee is FINALLY past the stage of picking up everything on the steps..but we did that for a long time. Really they just make us feel like our house is dirty.
