TWO DAYS AND COUNTING
Not that we're counting the minutes, or anything like that, but
if you're reading this on Wednesday, then we're leaving here
tomorrow night! That might be the most exciting thing that
happened today...it came and went!
Actually, today was fairly productive. We started out a little
rocky. You see, Jianmei does not like pants. Now that would be
fine had we known what to bring, but we have limited wardrobe
availability here, and it's come to the point where we must
insist on pants. Couldn't get her in them. Finally we started to
leave with her for breakfast without pants, just underwear and a
sweater, and so she picked the lesser of the two evils.. So it
wasn't the happiest of breakfast's but at least we all wore
pants.
Then we went back to Shamian Island on our own to do a little
shopping. However, we forgot to take our camera. Why is that
significant? Because it was the first of many places we forgot
to take our camera today, and so the only picture we took is
posted here...Jianmei eating McDonalds for lunch in our hotel
room...without pants! We snapped a couple of cute sleeping shots
just now, but that's all folks!
We put the pants back on and went to the US Consulate in
Guangzhou to take our oath to take care of Jianmei. It was a
group oath, and a large group it was. Typically, you might not
think of a large government room full of people doing government
things with a bunch of children an inviting place to be, but you
know, this was one of the happiest rooms I've ever been in.
There was a feeling of happiness and accomplishment and
excitement. We took the oath, and now we're done. When our plane
touches down in Newark, Jianmei will officially be a US Citizen.
We went to dinner, came home, skyped the boys, gave Jianmei a
bath and just now got her to sleep. It was a good day, Tater!
Now we're packing...and that makes this good day even better! |
