OUR
ITINERARY
Aug 28 - 11:30 am depart Seattle and fly to Portland (a
very anti-climatic first leg of the journey!)
Leave Portland at 2:40 pm and fly to Tokyo. Spend one very quick
hour in the Tokyo airport and depart for Beijing.
Aug 29 - Arrive in Beijing at 9:20 pm, where we will be
met by our guide and taken to the Novatel Peace Hotel.
Aug 29-Sept 1 - Sightseeing in Beijing to include
Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, the Great Wall of China, and
the Summer Palace. We will also take a hutong tour (google it to
get the gist of it).
Sept 2 - Fly to Nanchang, which is the capitol of
Jillian's province, Jiangxi. We will be staying at the Galactic
Peace Hotel. (Peace seems to be a common theme on this
trip...I'll take that as a good sign!)
Sept 3 - THE
BIG DAY!!! We get Jillian at 4pm at the Civil Affairs
Office, which is apparently right across the street from our
hotel.
Sept 4 - Paperwork at the Civil Affairs Office
Sept 5-6 - Free days for sightseeing, bonding, and of
course, shopping!
Sept 7 - Pick up Jillian's passport and other documents.
Depart Nanchang and fly to Guangzhou at 2:30 pm. While in
Guangzhou, we will be staying at the Victory Hotel.
Sept 8 - Medical exam for Jillian
Sept 9 - Sightseeing, bonding, and more shopping.
Sept 10 - Visa interview with the American Consulate,
9:30 am. Our guide actually attends for us, but we have to be
available in our hotel room in case there are any questions.
Sept 11 - Go to the American Consulate to take an oath
and pick up Jillian's visa, by 5:00 pm.
Sept 12 - Depart Guangzhou at 8:20 am and backtrack the
way we came. We arrive in Portland 15 minutes before we left
China, at 8:05 am on Sept 12. Guess we will find the day we lost
on the way over. Jillian will be a citizen of the United States
when we pass through customs in Portland. We fly back to Seattle
and arrive at about 11:30 am with the newest Nielsen.
