Our Family

Phil and I have been married for 20 years and have three wonderful children, David 18, Matthew 16 and Sarah 14. God has blessed us in so many ways, and not so long ago He moved our hearts to consider the possibility of adopting again.

We started thinking about this after my sister Kristine brought up adopting from China. As much as the idea intrigued me I had a lot of apprehension… people who are in their 40’s, that already have 3 teenage children, don’t think about adopting. My fear was that maybe our friends and family would think we had lost our minds. We tried to weigh the pros and cons and were having a hard time rationalizing the whole idea but we continued to pray and still felt that God was leading us in that direction.

Phil finally said “If you look at it from how the world views life you will never do it.” A few days later I went to work and in the front office someone had dropped off a baby bottle. I instantly grabbed it and was trying to hide it. I knew for some reason that it was meant for me. On the bottle was a baby, under the baby it said God’s gift. On the other side of the baby bottle was a verse that said, Every good and perfect gift comes from above. James 1:17. I knew that it was a message from God and that this is what he wanted us to do.

With the blessing from our kids we stepped out in faith and on October 21, 2005 applied through America World Adoption Agency for a little girl from China.
