It’s been six months since that unforgettable day when we first met Jordyn and in this short time she has grabbed hold of our hearts and changed our lives forever. She is a remarkable little girl, a perfect match for us, and we absolutely adore her.

Jordyn’s transition into our family and her new life here in Washington has been incredible to say the least. Every day we watch in amazement as her little personality blossoms…her beautiful smile, her laughter, her goofiness, all of the wonderful things that let us know she’s happy and she feels secure around us. She can be shy, but there are also times when she is outgoing and even bossy, especially to Samson, our bulldog. What we love the most is how Jordyn interacts with Dave and Matt and Sarah. She is completely taken by them, and they are head over heals for her.

It’s been a while since we’ve had a toddler in the house and we’re having a lot of fun. In December we celebrated Jordyn’s second Birthday and also her first Christmas with us. We finally got to fill her stocking after years of waiting! At some point Kelly told her that it was Christmas Eve and she replied “Christmas eat”…she’ll fit in just fine. It was wonderful to have everyone at home for a few weeks over the holiday break.

It seems like yesterday that we were all in China together with our frightened little Jordyn. That was a life changing experience, one that we’ll never forget. All of the waiting and uncertainty that led up to that time makes us appreciate her even more. Occasionally someone will comment how lucky Jordyn is to be with us but the truth is, we are the ones who have been blessed beyond our wildest dreams. She is truly a testament to the resilience of these little children, and to God’s grace in our lives.

Keep in touch, there’s more to come!

Love,

Phil, Kelly, Dave, Matt, Sarah and Jordyn
