LEAH IS 1!

Leah turned 1 on March 4th. She had a wonderful day and our family and a couple of friends came over to the house to celebrate. She just loved all of the attention! At one point we had Granby, Papa, Maw Maw, Aunt Diane and Vince and the boys in the family room all at once watching Leah take a few steps – she’s almost walking. I was upstairs and heard this tremendous cheer and clapping – everyone was so excited about her walking! I told them she was going to start expecting standing ovations if they kept that up! But how wonderful that so many people love our little girl – we are so blessed.

We are adjusting to having a baby around the house – (Mommy is just very tired – I’m older now and of course 3 kids can do that to you too!) and Leah is adjusting very well. She is just so happy and fits right in to our family – we are all so in to her – she has 4 people at her beck and call at all times.

Grant and Guy are so good with her – Grant has even changed a couple of diapers! Guy loves to help her walk and make her laugh. And she loves them just as much - they have taught her how to make raspberries and she imitates every noise they make.

I am so enjoying dressing a little girl! I can’t wait to put her new Easter dress on that Aunt Di gave her. The dresses and the tights and the socks – oh my – mommy’s having a good time!

We have discovered that Leah loves music! Every time she hears music she either bounces or sways – so we listen to a lot of music now. It is so cute to watch her bounce and sway to the beat!

Also – we have taken Leah for her checkup and she is over the 100th percentile for height on the American growth chart – she’s 31.5 inches tall. She is off the charts! We can’t get over it! She’s actually taller than the boys were when they were 1 year. Also – we found out that she is going to get a cranial band – the back of her head is a little flat and it was recommended that we do this. So, the next pictures you see of Leah, she will have a little helmet on her head. We hope for some results – she should have it for about 3-4 months. We don’t think it looks bad at all – but we thought we would do it so that we would not have any regrets later on – now is the time to do it while her head is still growing.

Leah will get to do a little more riding in the car now that spring sports have started! Grant is playing soccer and Guy is playing lacrosse. Leah went to her first soccer game on Saturday and she was great! I just put her in our baby carrier and walked around while I watched Grant’s game. I think I startled her a couple of times when I was cheering for Grant!

More later!…..

Love, Vince, Melanie, Guy, Grant and Leah
