In China
All Days  |  Previous Day  |  Next Day

Sunday, December 8, 2013

Today we headed to the airport bright and early to catch a flight out of Beijing. However, our flight was canceled due to severe fog in Nanjing, our destination city. There was a little bit of panic on my part because they weren't sure that any flights that day would be able to land in Nanjing due to inclement weather. We decided no matter what...we were getting there today! We were not going to miss our meeting with Kaden tomorrow. So we hopped on a train from Beijing to Nanjing, which was truly a blessing in disguise. We were seated in first class and it was so luxurious and comfortable that I decided I would much rather take a train home to America than a plane.

We arrived safely and rested in Nanjing, Kaden's hometown. Nanjing is just gorgeous! So green...even in the dead of winter. Nanjing used to be the capital city of China before Beijing, and that is where it gets it's name...meaning southern capital. And Beijing means northern capital.

We are staying at a beautiful hotel and when we walked into the room, they had a crib set up for Kaden...which of course led me to tears, happy tears!

We explored the city a little just around our hotel. It feels very much like San Francisco and is just wonderful! We had an amazing dinner and came back to the hotel to relax...we have such a big day tomorrow. One of the biggest days of our lives!

Our tour guide here in Nanjing is a woman named Jin. She is amazing just like our last guide Alison. We feel so blessed to have so many wonderful people to help us through the process.

Kaden...we'll see you tomorrow-finally. Words can not express how we feel and how excited we are.

We also just received photos from the orphanage from Kaden's birthday celebration. We had a cake sent to the orphanage and they so sweetly took pictures for us of his special day. So fun! Can't believe tomorrow is the big day.
