HAPPY NEW YEAR AND HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY KENSIE!
As we welcome in the New Year, we have an additional (and much
more important) reason to celebrate this year, Kensington’s
first birthday! She is an absolute joy! When we first returned,
Kensie was a reserved, vulnerable baby (especially around our
extended family and friends); but in just a few short months,
she has blossomed into a vibrant, confident and most beautiful
child.
From Halloween, to Thanksgiving, to Christmas and on to New
Years, the holidays were immensely more delightful with the
addition of Kensington to our family. She and Sloan have really
bonded as siblings and truly enjoy one another’s company. Kensie
continues to accomplish so much. She has been walking well for
quite some time. Our crawling days are a thing of the past. In
addition, she can eat independently with a spoon or fork, blow
kisses, shake her head no, point to something she wants, play
patty-cake, dance to music, and my dad’s personal favorite: wipe
her mouth with a napkin.
Just one year ago, as we rang in 2007 there were so many
challenges and uncertainties: when would we receive our
referral, would the waiting ever end, would our daughter be
healthy, and the list went on and on. . . Little did we know, it
was then that our precious daughter was born. It is proof that
even though we may not feel God working, He never abandons His
throne. Our worries and fears do not suspend the will of God. He
already has the answer to our prayers before we know we even
have a need. It is not just a cliché; the Lord’s timing is
perfect!
As we celebrate Kensington’s birthday, I pause to remember her
birth family. Today may be a difficult day for them and I want
to honor their great sacrifice. It seems unjust that what causes
us great joy may cause another tears of grief and loss. I pray
that the Lord will give them peace in their hearts that their
daughter is well taken care of and greatly, greatly loved.
Thank you all for your continued support and prayers. We pray
many blessings to you in 2008.
Love,
