About Lara

"For this child I prayed and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him."
                                     ~I Samuel 1:27

We have a daughter! We would like to introduce Lara Novelle Xin Coulter. Lara's Chinese name is Shang Guan Xin Jian. She is currently living with a foster family. I am so grateful to know that my daughter has a family who can give her the love and care she needs right now. Lara's current home is the Shanggao County in the Jiangxi Provence. Jiangxi province is situated in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River in Southern China.

We received "the call" from our agency on January 22nd at 10:55 a.m. I was practically jumping up and down when I saw it was Heartsent calling. Sybil, our coordinator, told me that we had the cutest baby, and we would just die when we saw her picture. Boy was she right. She is the most beautiful baby girl in the whole world. (Yeah, I know, I'm a little prejudiced.) After I wrote down her name and birth date, I was off the phone and simultaneously calling Chris at work and grabbing my camera, camcorder, etc. Yes, I looked like a crazed woman trying to get it all together in as few seconds as possible. Four seconds later I picked up Nicholas from school. He was feeling pretty proud of becoming a big brother. He even strutted a little when someone congratulated him. We drove to our agency and met Chris, Nana Pam, and Gran (Lara's great grandmother). I even managed to drive the speed limit most of the way.

I can't tell how amazing it was to finally see the daughter we have been waiting 3 1/2 years for. We are so full of joy, awe, love, it's impossible to describe. Chris says that he fell in love with her the minute he saw her and he misses her already. He doesn't know how he'll be able to stand the wait to go get her. Nicholas saw her picture, gave her a kiss, and promptly announced, “That’s my sister.” For me, It was like the years of waiting dissolved into nothing. This was the child that God had chosen to be our daughter. We are so blessed to be her parents, her forever family. I want to just reach into that picture and pull her right into my arms.

UPDATED INFORMATION
Lara was born on September 26, 2007. Her name is translated as follows: Shang Guang means "becoming an official", Xin means "new" and "Jian" means healthy. She currently weighs 25.3 pounds and is 31 inches tall. She has 8 teeth, can walk, and say mama and papa. We are unbelievably thrilled to hear this new information. She is clearly a happy and well loved child.
