Denice and Mike -

I have come to your log several times, and always walk away with a tear AND a smile.  I am finally writing.  As a friend to Denice for the past five years, knowing her big, kind heart, I couldn't be happier that you can now share that with your little girl.  (Mike, I am assuming, since you are married to Denice, that you share a similar heart!)  Lauren is a lucky, lucky little girl.

Congratulations on the emotional and physical journey that you have taken.  You are amazing people, and will be amazing parents.

Love,
Julie

congratulations and welcome home.  I've enjoyed reading your journal and I can see you are already wonderful parents.  Worrying about the smallest details of Lauren's well being and if you are making good decisions for her.  The constant worry and guilt is all part of parenthood unfortunately.

Also, not that I profess to be Dr. Spock, but the bonding issue seems like very normal parent stuff too.  I can tell you there are lots of fathers who have been in your shoes feeling less connected and vital to their child than the mother.  It's all a process and it will take shape for you and Lauren different than it did for Denice but be confident it will come.  Your love for her is clear and it will bring a beautiful relationship with your daughter.  I can't help but wonder if Lauren really had any exposure to men in the orphanage, it could just be that she is so used to women that she is not sure what to make of you yet.  All in good time.

God Bless the 3 of you and best wishes for a wonderful new year together.  What an amazing way to start 2009.

I am so happy and thrilled you are all home and waiting to visit my new grand daughter as soon as you all are ready for my company.   I know Denice doesn't feel that great right now, but you better hurry up and feel better by tomorrow when I come up to see all of you!! haha

Plus it will take some time for Lauren to settle into her new surroundings and she will be just fine soon enough.   And she will be hugging her Daddy soon enough too; so many changes and adjustments for her.

Okay, love you all and see you tomorrow!!!

Denice & Mike,
Your last message on Dec. 31 brought me to tears.  Your fears are heart felt, but it was meant to be that you waited so long for your daughter.  Perhaps this mother who gave up Lauren, as you say was the hardest thing to do, knew she would have a better life with someone else. That person was meant to be you and Mike.  I always think things happen for a reason and this little girl was just waiting for you and Mike.  She could never have better parents. I enjoyed seeing your adventure everyday.  I wish you all the best, good health and a prosperous New Year and beyond.
Love to you all and hope to see Lauren soon!

Happy New Year's Panco Family!

Well, it's almost New Year's here; it is early evening and I am home awaiting the celebration here in NY for the ball to drop and you probably have already had your New Year's celebration in Hong Kong and I can only imagine how thrilling and exciting it is with all the fireworks, etc.

I am so happy that you will be home tomorrow and back in the USA and now your real journey begins as a family.   It will be happy, sad, emotional, etc. etc. and alot of fun watching Lauren grow into a beautiful little girl that she already is; it will go fast watching her grow and all those cute clothes and shoes in the future!! haha

I am very proud of you two and only pray and wish for the best of the three of you in your new family life.   Lauren's cousins can't wait to meet her, especially Ryan; it will be alot of fun once she gets to know the boys and she can boss them around!

Okay, take care and await your phone call after you are settled and rested your first day back!

Well it is New Years Eve and here I sit crying into my glass of wine.....nothing new for me!!! Denice and Jen know that for sure!! What touching words from both of you, Lauren feels your love and you will always have insecurities as a parent, they never go away. As long as you have love and the love of a good husband there is nothing to fear! I question myself all the time but I know that God guides me so I know that I am doing the best I can...yes I stumble but God picks me up and I go forward. Lauren is so strong and full of God's love that you need not worry about her...we are actually weaker than they are!!! Thank you again for including us in your journey and please know that this has been the highlight of my Christmas!!! I can't wait to meet Lauren and hear her beautiful laugh...Emma and Jack are so excited to meet their new friend!! We love you and pray for a safe trip home!!

Mike, Denice & Lauren,
Denice, I am your Mom's friend from the swim club. I had to let you know how much I have enjoyed your daily updates on your trip to China to get your most precious Christmas present ever. Your daughter Lauren is beautiful and I know she will bring such joy and happiness to your lives.
I have talked with your Mom and she is beside herself with excitement waiting to see her new granddaughter. I  have two grandchildren from Korea and I tracked then in the air when they were escorted to the USA.  They actually live in Sanatoga so maybe someday when you are settled Megan and Lauren can have a play date.
Hope you have a great flight and hope you can get some rest. Happy New Year from the good old USA and thanks for sharing your journey.

In just these two weeks, look how far you have come. I'm not a parent, but I'm sure all of your questions and fears will be taken care of in time and with lots of love. The hardest part is probably over. You are all so blessed and I pray for you all often. So many people are here to support you and help you. Hello Panco Family,

Well, one more day and you will be home to start your new family life in 2009....things will never be the same again!

Lauren looks absolutely adorable in her blue dress for her red couch posing; she is allowed to cry with all that paparozzi (spelling?) around! haha

Is she wearing squeaky shoes now?   How cute she looks in her dress and all the little ones on the couch with her.    I hope Mike is feeling much better now that you guys will be flying for quite awhile; I just pray to God that you keep healthy....why is it the mother is always the strongest one?! haha   That's another ancient Chinese secret I think.

I will see you when you are rested up the first day and then look out world!   I am coming to see and hopefully hold my first and only grand daughter!   It will be alot of fun and I can't wait to hear about your experiences and stories that you didn't get to write about.    The whole trip has been amazing for you and you both shared it with family and friends....everyone loved reading it daily.

Okay, see you soon!

Hello Panco Family,

So glad to read your lastest update and see the pics of Lauren getting her physical; quite the drama queen, huh?   Now who could she take after??    I wonder if she's going to be in a high school play and get the loud applause at the end of the show when she comes down a sliding board and pops down then up on the stage floor?? haha

She is a smart little girl and knows what she wants and when she wants things; the girl of my dreams! haha

You all look so happy and it's not too far away that you all will be back home and feeling even better.   It's been way too long but what an experience for all of you.   My boss said now when you get back, you still have to write what is going on since she's hooked on your updates!!   Others have said the same thing....we'll miss your great writings and musings! (how about that word?)

Okay, it's Mon. evening here around 7:30p.m. so I need to relax with my book for awhile before heading to bed; one more work day this week and then Happy New Year!!!

Take care and much love to all!

It's been so exciting reading about your daily adventures, from Chinese cultures and traditions to diaper changes and pacifiers!  It's amazing how quicky it seems Lauren is adjusting to all of the changes!  And I can't blame you for one second about "caving" into co-sleeping and pacifiers.  When you see your little one upset, all you want to do is comfort them.  Even if it means doing something you once thought you were so against.  You did the right thing!

Okay, again I wish my love to you three and the pics as usual were adorable; did Lauren take Tess's toy??   Wow!

Hi there Panco Family,

As usual, I read your updates every day and many times over!!  I have to laugh with the nickname "Stitch" ; she's not going to like that when she is 10 years old Mommy! haha

As far as the pacifier....let her have it and be happy.   It probably helps with her teething process so I'd make sure there are iced or chilled ones for her when she gets home....love that ice!!

Again, I am thrilled the days are counting down and this week will be the best thing to happen for the Aquilani family and Panco family; another little one to enjoy and "spoil" with love of course and some other things.

Okay, good night for now and can't wait to read your next update!

Hi Panco Three!
I just got home from Christmas in NY with my family.  It's been 5 & 8 years already since our "Made in China" nieces Mia & Cameron came home.  Every time I'd look at the girls I'd keep wondering how you were doing and finally got back on your site.  I've been on for over an hour!  Sooooo fantastic!

Do you realize one little girl has brought 214 responses to your guest book? Do you realize you will never stick to any punishment when she looks up at you with those huge deep brown eyes?  Do you realize she is now in complete control?  Look how many adults have been brought to tears by your little lady and they haven't even held her yet!

And reading the messages from Lauren's extended family ..... she may not have to walk until she's in her early twenties!  Sounds like an awful lot of love is waiting patiently.  Okay .... maybe not to patiently.  Oh, how fun that airport reception will be !

Here's to enjoying the last couple of days in Lauren's land, a safe trip home, and to not having to wait any longer, dog gone it!  She's yours.  I am truely thrilled beyond words for you all.  Here's to 2009 and a fun, adventurous life ahead!

And Denice .... your hair looks great!  Maybe because of the beautiful, huge, wide, couldn't be a happier mommy smile that it's surrounding!
                                                                    Connie ;0)

ps - Anyone notice Lauren actually looks like Mike when she does the Stitch thingy?

Hi Panco Family!

Sorry we have been delinquent in messaging, have been busy out and obout, shopping, Lancaster ETC.

What a difference seeing the change in Lauren's eyes. She has the look of great happiness in those prettie little eyes. Before long here memeory of the past will be long gone.

As for Mike and his Girlfriend Stitch, its kind of cute to see how she is communicating with facial expressions but Mike knows it wont be long before she is hanging from his neck also.

You both made our Christmas by calling Xmas night, when the phone rang I first thought it was your Aunt Mary Ann!
but what a joy to hear both of your voices. I cant wait until Thursday to get up to the airport.

I am going to bring Tasty-cakes with me and some WAWA hoagies for your ride home,American Food Yah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Counting the days, God Bless you both and espically the little Angel You have made your own.

OMG, she does look like "Stitch" with that funny face when Daddy comes around; of course, seeing Mike's face in the background with that face he makes, even that makes me scared! haha

Like you said before, one step forward....two steps back; it all takes time for all the adjustments, newness, etc. etc. Lauren will be dealing with so she'll adapt and be fine.

The red couch custom is kind of neat; good going Mike, picking another color besides red for her dress; now we'll see the little munchkin better; and the asian Barbie was a nice gesture.  How about that Denice...you're such a Barbie fan! haha

Glad you are now eating food that you are used to; that should help you feel better and stronger.   Can't believe in 4 more days (your time) you will be heading back to the USA....seems like forever yet it is flying by.   As usual, enjoy all your updates about the customs, etc. and the pictures are good.   She looks like a little angel all sleepy and ready for bed finally.    I bet you two never were so tired in your whole life but it gets better as you settle in at home, etc.

Okay, so happy to read today's updates and take care.   I've been in the house all day doing housework...YUCK....and it never feels like it gets done!   Starting to put away some decorations already....who is bored??

Love,
Grammy

Hi there Panco Family,

Hope all of you are feeling well and staying healthy NOW!!!   It's rough when you don't feel good and being that far away but I am counting the days and hours until you are back here in the USA!!

I hope Lauren's fever went away too; that could be still from the teething....poor baby.    She's been thru alot and it will be fun and interesting once she gets home to see her nursery and her own crib and all the comforts of her real home!

It's another dreary day here and rain is coming again....so tired of this crazy weather....cold, chilly, freezing, warm, dreary...you get the picture.    I could use some of the weather you are in now with the nicer temps....spring and summer can't come soon enough here for sure.

Well, I will wait for your next update and see how your latest day went ; the days are counting down!!!   Yippee!

Hi Mike, Denice and Lauren,

I recently had lunch with Linda Stull and the folks from AmeriSource Bergen (I work for MetLife and will be working with AmeriSource Bergen as your new Client Executive).  Linda shared your website with me as I am currently in the long wait for my daughter from China (my LID was 4/15/07).  Reading your postings has helped me to see that there really is a happy ending to the incredibly long wait.  Lauren is absolutely beautiful!!  I hope to get the opportunity to talk to you all about your trip when you get back.

Happy Holidays!

Hi there,

I am sorry that Lauren hasn't felt well again; I think you are right, with all those children passing colds, coughs, etc. and then Mike being sick it is just one of those things and this time of the year here so many people have colds, coughs, etc. and getting thru it all during the holidays.

I feel much better too from the past day and a half and now the Christmas letdown starts!   I had to go out earlier for my car and that's okay; just a brake lightbulb burned out.   Glad it wasn't brake problems....God listened to my prayers and I went into WalMart here and how they cleaned up the place already with only a corner of leftover items from the holiday!!   They don't mess around and now it's already Valentine's stuff out!!!   Too much for me! haha

It is chilly again today here so make sure when you guys get back you have something warm to wear when you get off the plane.   Did you take coats for you and Mike that have some warmth to them?  I hope so.    I am glad you are back to where the warmer weather is and you finally enjoyed some American food!!!  Yippee!!   That should have made you all feel alot better and you can see it in that one picture of all of you.

If you eat the foods you are familiar with then maybe you all will feel stronger and get more healthy.   Lots of juice and veggies if possible.

I just pray all the time for your safe return and all but you still enjoy it each day; this is a lifetime memory and all the wonderful things that are typed into your guestbook; people are so thrilled for you and Lauren is such an adorable little girl!   I hope she likes me right away and rests on my "pillows" since you don't have them like I do anymore! haha

I am so happy that the days are coming up quicker now before I see the three of you in person ; I will be so happy and grateful for that.

Okay, have to do some grocery shopping...yuck...Salti is sitting behind me in one of the pants boxes; she just loves them; they are her new toy.   Like a kid...the boxes are alot of fun.   I haven't returned to Bill's yet to play Ryan on the Wii....Ryan said he is going to beat me in tennis too!    He probably will.

Okay, miss you, pray for you, love you and see you all soon!
Love,

Well Merry Christmas Panco Family!!

It is actually the day after Christmas but I am just getting around to writing. I did look at your update yesterday but didn't have a chance to write. I hope you are all finding yourselves feeling better today....my kids aren't themselves either...it is the time of year for sickness. Lauren is looking so happy and I think I am going to go buy some stacking cups for myself they seem to work some kind of magic!!! We had a busy but fun couple of days...it is hard to believe it is all over...the Christmas let down now begins!!! But I am anticipating you guys getting back so I most certainly have something wonderful to look forward too. I know you will need time to adjust to being home so I won't be at your door step when you get back but certainly hope to see Lauren soon!! Jen and I will be patient ......well we will try at least!!! We have been talking a lot and that has kept us feeling close to you even though you guys are thousands of miles away!! Well I love you all and continue to enjoy your beautiful time in China!!

Hi, it's me again!!

I now am feeling much better than this morning and wanted to check for your latest update and there it is!!!    That mountain does look like a camel; amazing!

Lauren is following her cousin in the "naked baby" thing! haha   She and Tess look so cute playing together.   Sorry Lauren isn't feeling well again but kids get sick fast and get better fast; not like adults!

I hope the three of you can finally get better once and for all to enjoy the rest of the trip.   So you got her something bling-bling, huh?   I thought that wasn't allowed yet! haha    That is good you got a momento of the pearl harvest, etc. ; pearls are always great with most clothes and I am sure she will appreciate it as she gets older and wants all that jewlery in her Christmas stocking! haha

I am glad I stayed in today but I am bored out of my mind not being around my kids; have to make up for it this weekend when everybody is back on normal schedules and check out their gifts, etc.   I think Leah and Megan really liked those huge trucks I got for Kai and Justin; think they need another garage to store them!

And finally it's a nice day outside but I am not out today to enjoy it; hope it warms up and stops all the rain we keep getting too.  I hope you guys stay in the good weather there too; too many changes make people sick.

Okay, Salti sends her love.   I put the boxes that my pants were in on the bed behind me; she is getting inside the boxes and sitting there on the tissue paper; she loves this and has been entertaining herself all day since I brought the boxes upstairs!   Like kids...they enjoy the boxes the most!    And I really like the pants...thank you again and talk to you later!

Enjoy your day/evening!

Merry Christmas Day Panco Family!!!!

Well, it's actually Christmas Day here in the USA and I didn't get to Bill's b/c I am now sick; I guess I caught it from Mike! haha

Anyway, it is finally nicer weather and the sun is actually out bright and pretty but of course I am stuck home resting; oh well, that is life.   I had one of my best Christmas's when I heard your voices and 6 more days or so until you are home and I hear your voices up close and personal! (sounds like a movie, huh?)

We will celebrate Christmas once you are home and rested and relaxed and Lauren will have a grand time with that I think.  I just hope she doesn't lose any of her stacking cups when you travel home, especially the blue one! haha   She is like her Grammy, blue is my favorite color too and I think she knows that.

I just loved the pink outfit on her and all the pics are great that you send and tell us about; very informative and beautiful.

Okay, I have to rest up again and I send all my love as usual and pray you all stay healthy now for the rest of your journey.   Denice, you look so happy and beautiful in the pictures and I am just so happy for you and Mike; I LOVE YOU THREE!!!!!

P.S.  Barkley and Mu send their holidays wishes to you too and they are doing great and can't wait for your return.   Deb is doing a great job with Mu; he ended up really liking her she said! haha

Merry Christmas from home!!
Well, it's almost 9 p.m. here now and the celebrating is over for tonight with your brothers, their wives and nephews.   We had a nice time together and the boys are great, but we all felt a piece missing as usual.

I was so glad when Bill got on the computer and we saw your latest update and Lauren looks quite fetching in her pink Xmas Eve outfit complete with the hat I got for her last year!!   Pink is her color along with red of course.

So cute and she looks more and more relaxed and happy and, yes, thank God (and uncle Steve) for those stacking cups!!  She really enjoys them and really holds onto that blue one!

I was soooooo happy to hear your voices tonight and such a surprise...you sounded like you were right up in Sanatoga!!!   LOVED it!!!   Now I will sleep better tonight even though this weather is finding me with a little cough and sore throat....oh oh.   I hope to get over in the morning to see Ryan open his gifts from Santa but if I don't feel well, then I won't....can't make others sick.    I'll go later on.

Again, hope Mike gets better and glad to know he is drinking hot tea; that's a good throat soother as we know.   Give a Christmas kiss and hug to Lauren and look forward to your next update.

I am praying for the next week to fly by but I want you all to enjoy all the beautiful scenery, culture, etc. of China.  It is such an awesome journey and you did receive your best Christmas gift this year!!!   And for future years!
Love,

Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas.  I'm really enjoying reading about your new bundle of joy.  I'm sort of addicted.  I'm not sure what I'm going to do when you get home.  It sounds like she is enjoying her new Mommy and Daddy.  I feel your pain with teething.  My little one is up three times a night due to discomfort.   David says there is no real way to stop the discomfort other than Tylenol.  Of course I told him your a dentist so therefore invent something so I can get some sleep.  Again, we are so happy for you and your family.

Hi there,

Well, it's Christmas Eve Day and I am trying to get ready for the afternoon and evening with your brothers, wives and babies and between the dreary, icey morning so far I feel just like the weather ; it doesn't quite feel like Christmas is actually here tomorrow but it is and I have to keep thinking and wishing you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year's until you all return to the USA.

It isn't that far away finally and keep enjoying each day in China.  I am glad the weather has been nice in Nanning but the other province is cooler; you all look wonderful in your warmer clothes and Lauren looks adorable in her cute hat.   It looks like you packed everything you needed or would encounter there.

I hope she is still eating more and you and Mike are eating okay too.   So glad Mike tried that one dish that he ended up really liking.   That was also a first! haha

Kristin K. called me last night and we cried and talked about all of this and she is ready to come over and get you back early; she and Jen are chomping at the bit also to see you all and meet Lauren.   I told her that would probably go slow in the beginning and you will let them know the best time to visit, etc.

I think you should sell tickets at your front door for all the people who can't wait to meet Lauren! haha   That would be a good help towards her savings account!

Okay, better get myself off this computer and get on with my day here; miss, miss, miss you all and can't wait until you return with your beautiful daughter.   She looks so intelligent along with her other attributes and Uncle Steve thinks she is a smart little girl already!

Salti and Oreo send their love too and best wishes for a great holiday in China!!
Love you,

Absolutely loved the pictures from yesterday especially, the one in the crib.  She certainly does have some long legs and a little bit thinner than Jack hahahhahhhahah.  What a beauty.  I'm sure before long Lauren and Jack will be having some conversations(we might not know what they're saying though)

Glad to hear that everyone is feeling better.

Just think, only a few more days and everyone will be home.

Hi again,

Just after I typed my last entry and finished, I checked your site again and saw your latest update!!!   It made my heart jump for joy!

So she is all legs, huh?   And doesn't like a variety of food yet?   Well, once we get her home to eat some spaghetti and manicotti, that will change for sure!    I can't wait to see if she will eat that and all the other good food planned for her.   I am sure ice cream will be a huge hit with her once she gets here.

She is lucky to have the slim, long legs; something our family couldn't offer her! haha   But I am sure she will and does have a great personality to go along with those adorable looks; loved the pics of her and eyore in the crib; so funny and cute.

I am glad things are going better with health issues for the 3 of you; keep up the good work.   Yes, we all miss you but you are almost halfway thru it and once back in the USA all this will be wonderful memories, etc.

Okay, take care of yourselves and she looks so cute in her warmer clothes and hat.   And still holding onto that blue cup I see! haha

Hi there,

It is Tues evening as I type this and can't wait to hear your next update on how things went with your last trip; bus, happy tears, sad tears; so much for a little girl!

I am going thru the same tears as you go thru your trip and tomorrow is Christmas Eve and it won't feel the same for me w/o you guys.  I know I have Bill and Steve and their families but this is such a change from our tradition this year so next year I am really looking forward to our old tradition!!!   I will even sleep in the crib with Lauren if I have to! haha

You are half over your trip and I know it must feel like a lot longer than that sometimes, but it is going day by day and that's all that we have right now; once you are home, rested and hopefully settled in; then all your wonderful memories will be just that on your journey to China and bringing home my first grandaughter; I feel so blessed and she is truly blessed with you two as her parents.

Then we can enjoy Christmas together like we used to and now with a new family member and cutie pie!   I just can't wait to hold her (when I am allowed by her of course), kiss her, hug her and just look at her.   She just amazes me.

Ryan can't wait to meet her and he is anxiously awaiting Santa on Christmas Day.  I will be there to watch him open his gifts this year; next year I hope to be there when Lauren's opens her gifts.   I think if she hangs around Ryan long enough, she will pick up the English language quickly; he is so good with the babies and toddlers.

We all miss you and wish you a happy, healthy Christmas in China!   I hope you both are trying to get as much sleep as possible and not feel sick or sore throats, etc.   I also hope Lauren's teething is getting better....the old Italian way was to rub alcohol on the gums ; it works!!   I used this method on you guys!   I guess today they'd throw me in jail!! haha

Okay, take care and love to the 3 of you!!!
Love & kisses,
Lauren's Grammy

Dear Mike, Denice and Lauren,

it is tuesday here. I'm sure your journey yesterday was exhausting for all of you and harder yet with sore backs and sore throats.  Mike, hopefully it won't last long and by the time you read this it will have passed.
Just think of the memories you will have a chance of a lifetime.

I'm trying to finish up things for Christmas. We will miss you guys but, we'll all be thinking of you.

The weather here has been just what i love ice, snow, cold and windy just some of my favorite things (BAHABAHBAHHBAHBAHBABAHA).

We miss you guys soooooooooooooooo much and can't wait till you're home.

Can't wait to see the new family. Even though you are all tired somehow you are all beaming (imagine that).

Going to leave you guys for now

Hello Panco Family,

Wanted to say hello to you and know you are probably really exhausted from your last trip with the long bus ride but I am sure you had a great time.

The country and temples, etc. are just beautiful and so sweet that Lauren has been doubly blessed at the temple.   She is so sweet and every day is a wonderful journey for the three of you.

I miss you and can't wait for your trip back and of course, Barkley and Mu say hello and they love you!!!

Can't wait to read your next update hopefully sometime tomorrow (Tues here)....miss you and love you all!
Hugs and kisses,
Grammy

This message is one I hope you will read when your a big girl

Today is Monday December 22, 2009 and you are only 15 months old and in China with your Mommy and Daddy. Every day our family and me look at the great pictures and stories written about the adventure traveling around China with you. I was so happy to see the blessing you received at the Budist Temple.
Not only are you blessed but we as a family are blessed that you have found your way into our family. I love your Mom and Dad with all my heart and soul and when I first look into your eyes I hope you will feel the love I have for you and that we both will be life long friends.

Denice and Mike- Am just now able to get your website in due to computer problems. Am so overjoyed to see these pictures of Lauren and you two and the pictures of China. Lauren is just beautiful. I'm sorry you are concerned over her shyness, but she will soon get over that as she gets to know you. She is smart enough to realize that there are different things going on, but you can tell by the way she clings to you that she trusts you. She is so precious. Your comments are so interesting and I feel like I am taking a trip to China with  you. I am printing each day and will love having all this to look over in the future. You are not only getting a lovely daughter, but a great experience in visiting China. Thoughts and prayers are with you. Looking forward to seeing you and Lauren soon. Love & Hugs Aunt Marcia

Ni Hao, Denice and Mike.  Again, love reading about your adventure with Lauren and in China.  Poor little sweetheart.  I agree with K, teething is very tough for some little ones.  Motrin is a life saver and I think I also had the vibrating teething thing that my boys liked.  Orajel I used but it never really did the trick.  Lots of mommy love needed.  You sound like you are doing everything possible to make Lauren happy.  Glad she's eating for you too.  The cups are hysterical!  But what a life saver.  Best wishes and good luck these coming days!

Hello Panco Family!

I read today's latest update and teething is hard on a little one; plus all Lauren's experienced the past 5 days....Kristin had a good suggestion when you read her message to you about some thing from WalMart you can try to help her feel alittle better with it.

It's like getting wisdom teeth to come thru as an adult and it hurts like hexx!!!   Been there, done that.   It will get better and she is testing you two also; she looks bright and intelligent and is using her "diva" personality with you I think! haha

Mike, she will warm up to you soon; my friend told me another couple who adopted from China where the baby wouldn't go to the mother for weeks; so count your blessings in that respect.  It seems that most children always want their mommy but they still love their daddy.

Loved all your pics you sent of China and where you've been, etc.    I also say, keep the pigeons back there along with the freeze dried chicken! haha    Not on our menu!

I just wish I could be there with you and experiencing China and helping you with Lauren but the time will go fast even though you mentioned about the next 11 days.   Enjoy this whole experience b/c when you get back, there will be tons of stories to tell us and I want to sit in a camp-fire fashion with some good drink and hear it all!   Steve agreed with me on that one.

Okay, I hope Mike's throat is feeling alot better; again, some hot tea and lemon will do the trick for him.

Stay well and miss you all; can't wait for youir return too!!   Barkley is doing great still ; and he is really enjoying it there b/c because there  is always somebody there to walk him in his run and talk to him, etc. etc.   Deb agreed...he has the life right now all day!

Oreo and Satl send their love and I told them they now have a little girl for her to pat them (if Salti ever comes out of hiding).

Love to all and you all are in my prayers every day, every hour, every second!
Love,
Grammy

D-

I know the teething thing can be awful, it is truly the worst part of infancy. I have a couple of suggestions for you...first don't be afraid to do motrin or tylenol every 4-6 hours during the day. As long as your ped says it's ok...mine always did. Second there is a teething toy that I found at Wal-Mart,  it is a yellow star with little nubbies on it and it has a blue handle....it vibrates!! It really soothes their gums. I found the orajel and all the other stuff didn't work either. My kids always ran a low grade fever and had bad yucky poopies too when they were teething. I hope this helps. I feel for you and will continue to pray for you guys and Lauren....Even when I brought my kids home from the hospital it took them a good bit of time before they adjusted to us and how new everything was so it is normal that she is struggling a bit with that. You are great parents and what a lucky little girl she is!!!!

I am glad that she is warming up to you both, and again thanks for letting us all see it happen as well. As for China it looks like an interesting place....please leave the freeze dried chix's there....and glad to hear you didn't actually cave and use the "squatty potty"...i tried to think of ways to use it successfully and came up with nothing!!! Enjoy your time there and I can't wait to have a picture night when we all get together and look at all the pics you have taken!! Hi Denice, Mike and my precious Lauren,

Saw today's update and Denice, you should be a writer!   You make it all so interesting, facts and lots of humour; just love it!!!   Lauren looks like she is getting more used to you both and I just loved her pic with her pink bow in her hair....what a diva!! haha

Thanks for the dried chicken offer....keep them all back in China, thank you very much! haha   It is amazing for you to experience all the culture there and how they do things there with riding the kids in their bikes, etc. w/o helmets, car seats, etc. like we do here in the US.   Very interesting.

You all look alot better and little more rested in these pictues; try to sleep as soon as Lauren falls asleep at night; and please take your vitamins and care for yourselves so you can function; you still have quite a ways to go before you return home.

No problem with the furr balls of yours; they both are doing great; it will be alot of fun to see what Lauren thinks of Barkley and vice versa.   Mu won't give a hoot....you know the Mu man!

This week has certainly been so exciting and emotional and I am drained by it all! haha   No surprise there huh Mike?   So many friends send their best; John and Millie want to see her when you bring her here for visits too.

Oh, my friend Donna wants to know if you know anything about the "squeaky" shoes?   It helps the babies learn to walk when they are ready.   They are cheaper in China and if you do find out about them, would you get 2 pairs for her but I don't know size yet for their adopted little one.   They are about $2.50 in China so I told Donna I'd mention it to you.   If it's a problem not to worry though....she felt weird asking me but I am glad I have Donna; she is really up on all of this since her 2 adopted grandchildren came into her life too.   So she's been a great info source, etc. etc. for me.

Okay, I am finally home from a week of work and thought I was on vaca next week but have to work this Monday for a few hours.  I am not finished with holiday shopping, etc. but if the weather gets better tomorrow I hope to finish up.   It's been crappy here; you are not missing anything and we may get snow for Xmas Eve....pretty but I hope I can drive around thru it.

Okay, all my love and kisses to you three.....Lauren is gorgeous!!  I think she may have your nose Denice! haha
All my love,
Grammy

Mike and Denice,
Although its been a really long journey for the both of you, with ups and downs, good news and bad news, smiles and tears, when Lauren was placed in your arms...thats when the wait became all worth it. Looking through the pictures, I can tell how happy (and exhausted) the 2 of you truly are. Now that the 3 of you are finally together you are a complete family.
I think about you during the day and I find myself wondering, 'what are Mike and Denice doing right now?' Lauren has so many people back here waiting to meet her...being thrown into your arms at the airport won't seem half as intimidating as meeting the members of the Panco and Aquiliani families.
I know you guys are going to be great parents...you've already proved how much you love her by waiting so long to finally call her your own.
I've gone on way too long..but just remember that you will always have a free babysitter in me

Love ya lots, can't wait to meet the new family!

Each day will get better and you already got the sweetest smile on that picture; she melted my heart!!

Just enjoy each day in China and all the wonderful experiences you are having there as a family....it will go fast and before you know it, you will be back home in Sanatoga with Mu and Barkley.

Congratulations Mike and Denice!!!!  Lauren is lovely.  Don't worry about the crying (yours or hers) it is a good thing because obviously Lauren was attached to her caregiver which means she will be able to attach again, this time to you. I didn't cry because I expected our daughter to be scared but my husband was overwhelmed by our daughters fear and crying and cried along with her.  Our daughter screamed and cried when she met us and in fact wouldn't even look at my husband without crying and wouldn't let him hold her for 3 days.  It will get better.  We had some older children in our group that ran after their nannies too and that was heartbreaking but assure them that will get better also.  Looking forward to the rest of your journey .

Hi Mike and Denice,

I checked in today and saw your journey and it brought me back to our trip to China.  I was moved by your details as Kim and I went through the same process when we brought Nia home.  Gotcha day was very hard especially the way they organize the process, but now all that matters is that you have a beautiful addition to your family.  Your pictures of the day are great and at least Lauren went to sleep.  I do not think Nia feel asleep until midnight or so.

You are going to be great parents as your love is very evident in your journal.  The trip to bring home your daughter is a long trip, but one you will never forget.  The hard part is over and now you can spend time together and bond as a family.  When we were in China it was a haze, but now our view on the trip has changed to the best experience of our life!

Mike you are ahead of me, I don't think Nia let me that close for weeks!  I will keep you guys in my thoughts and prayers and enjoy your "Journey."  If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.  (I will make sure I get Kim to answer as well!)

PS: I do not know who is in your travel group, but an old colleague of mine, Dave Zimmerman is traveling around this time as well.  That would be a small world.

Take care and Good Bless!

Congratulations on your beautiful daughter Lauren! I had to write because your Gotcha day sounded so similar to ours (we're at Our Journey to Jia in 2006), it was chaotic and upsetting. Mike, Denice, and Lauren,
I'm sitting here sobbing (literally, sobbing...damn pregnancy hormones!) as I look at the pictures of Lauren and listen to Jack waking up from his nap, talking to himself and playing in his crib.  I can't even imagine what she is going through.  But I do know that as hard as it probably was for her (and you guys) to be taken away from her caretaker, in no time, she will realize that she is surrounded by 2 loving and beautiful parents that will care for her better than all of those caretakers combined.  I have a feeling we'll be wondering over and over again for the rest of our lives, did we handle that situation appropriately?, could we have handled it better?  But in the end, I hope and believe that our children will feel and see the love we have for them and each other and know that they are loved forever.  Keep sending pictures!!!  We love you and can't wait to meet our niece!!!
Love,

Hello Denice, Mike & Lauren,

I was so happy to see the pictures!  Lauren is beautiful.  Like everyone, I was crying my heart out.  Just reading what you wrote brought back so many emotions for me.  I can totally relate to everything you said.  You will be amazed by the changes you will see in Lauren during the next few weeks.  The best thing you can do to help her is to be yourselves.  Grieve with her and laugh with her.  Before you know it the laughter will replace the sorrow.  My heart is with you.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.   God bless you and your beautiful family!

Hi, New Panco family!

Seeing Lauren in these new photos is so amazing.  When they originally sent you her photo, I thought, "They must have touched up the photo -- she can't really be that perfect and beautiful" -- yet there she is, and there you are, and isn't it wonderful!

In the past 24 hours, you've already experienced so many emotions, but the happiness comes through it all.  I can't really add much to all of the wonderful things that have already been said, except, "God Bless this amazing new family."

Hi Denice, Mike and Lauren (Wed 12/17/08  9 a.m. our time)

I believe you are going to meet and get Lauren today according to your last note.   I am jumping out of my skin for you two!! haha   I am so thrilled for this next step and know it will be such an emotional and happy moment for you two.

I have to leave for work shortly, but will check in later for any new updates.   Have a great time and please get someone to take as many pics of you all as you can of this day.

I wish I could be there to witness all of this happiness and give huge kisses to Lauren but we all know she has to warm up to all of us "foreigners" for now; that poor little one has no choice but to be with all of us loud people and the future holds alot of fun for her and much love of course!    Again, I am so happy that I can't express it all sitting here and awaiting my first "grand" daughter!   Ryan, Kai and Justin better look out....she will RULE!!! haha

Good Morning (our time) @ 10am Tues
I wanted you guys to know that I was tracking your flight last night!   I saw that around 8 p.m. our time you were flying over Russia @ 33,000 ft. @ 558 mph and I wanted to know if you looked out your window and saw Russia like Sara Palin can! haha

I figured you both were sleeping by then to catch up on all the rest you will need for the next two-plus weeks.    My friend, Donna, called and gave me the site to track your flights to and from so that was a neat thing to have handy on the computer.   You can't even go to China w/o somebody knowing your whereabouts! ha

Donna is excited about your journey even though she hasn't met you guys; her daughter adopted 2 children from Korea and they live near you in Sanatoga so maybe one day you will get to meet her daughter.   They are great people.   And she is also checking your site and feeling like she is re-living her excitement thru me about the children.

Okay, as usual I am sitting at my desk at work and thinking of you both and miss you and can't wait to see you all even though your trip is just beginning.   So happy and proud of you both like I told you many times before.   And Barkley is doing great and so is Mu; they said hello and send lots of hugs and kisses!!

Take care and have fun; tell Pat and Ellie also I send my best to them and Tess; can't wait to meet their little one too when they get back and everyone is settled in.
Love you!!

Dearest Lauren,

When I got the news the other night that your parents were coming for you next week, I got an instant headache caused by happiness and anxiety put together and I RARELY get headaches.      We all thought it was going to take another 3 weeks for them to travel to get you, so that was the biggest factor for this, but I am so happy, thrilled and can't wait to see you and hold you and this will be the best gift your two parents will ever receive during the holiday season and their lifetimes.

And my best gift also for a lovely little granddaughter.   God bless!

I heard about your adoption journey from your friend I met at McDonald's yesterday.  Her little girl's name is Emma.  Unfortunately, I didn't get your friend's name.  I'm assuming you know who I'm talking about.  LOL.  Your friend is so excited for you and she shared your website with me.

I'm so excited for both of you.  We've been home with our little girl for five months now and I can't tell you what an amazing experience it has been.  I was excited to hear that you live close by.  We are from Collegeville, PA.  We would love to meet you and answer any questions you may have.  My email address is sherrycrist@hotmail.com

Now to tell you, your little girl is absolutely adorable.  How awesome to receive your referral sooner than you had expected.  What was your LID?  I love the spikey hair too!  You must be getting so excited.  Do you know when you will be traveling?  I wish you both the best of luck on your journey.  Again, I would love to help with any questions you may have.

I am so thrilled for you and your husband. What a gift! Words won't be able to describe the feeling of fullness and love in your heart when you actually get that little girl in your arms. I have such a soft spot for children, and I believe they are an awesome gift from God. Great responsibility accompanies them, but great love, joy and lots of worry too! Enjoy every second of life with her. It will move at warp speed. You'll never regret the time you invest with Lauren. That time will pay the biggest dividends!

I want to wish God's blessings on Lauren, you and your husband. I pray that He'll give you wisdom, as there isn't an instruction book.

Congratulations!

Darlene
