We're Home

May 2008

We cannot believe that we've had Lily for over two months now, we cannot remember life without her its been non stop with emotions up and down (I assume typical for all new parents) but especially those who adopt a two year old! She has gained 4 lbs since we've gotten her and she has adjusted very well to the family. Sleep is another story as we have a hard time getting her to nap or go to bed. If there's one thing I miss is sleep as I constantly feel I am running on empty all the time. This past Saturday marked the one year passing of my Dad and I am sad as I wish he could have met her. It seemed the whole year spiraled around such sadness that I look at this baby and wait for my bubble to burst but maybe she's the reason we lived through all this as no matter how bad we have it (or think its bad) put yourself in China...end of story life is good and you have to thank God and count all your blessings.

Lily and Penny Lane get along but at times there is sibling rivalry with Lily and the dogs especially Tipper. I have to monitor him time to time as he snaps at her. I can't hold him when Lily's around. Penny's a hoot, I need to monitor her to keep her off Lily, she loves her wants to kiss her all the time and will hop in the bathtub with her if I am not careful. I think she thinks she's the Mommy Miss Penny.

Lily is undergoing early intervention and has been to see the Cleft Palate Team at Northshore Hospital and has been to see an audiologist and has an appt with an ENT next as she will need tubes which will hopefully help with some hearing loss. Yesterday she had physical therapy for poor muscle tone and I am proud to say with Daddy's help today started to practice walking backwards. This is a good improvement because it helps with balance which she is bad at doing.

Her eating habits, she loves Ritz crackers with cheese, Teddy Grahams and Animal Crackers (I need to take stock in Kraft Foods!) but try and sneak in a vegetable and this baby will spit it out! Unless its Grandma's broccoli (my Mom smothers them in oil).

We have an appt this Thursday with a nursery school as I go back to work in three weeks unless I hit mega million! We can all dream! But my fortune is actually taking a nap next to me right now...Thank God!!!

The final initiation into our family, Lily must become a Rolling Stones fan! I think she passed the test and is prepping her concert cheer, who knows Mick Jagger will still be going strong in 20 years!!!

Give me some kisses!!!
I prefer the Hershey's kind but Mommy's are second best!
