After more than 24 hours of travel, a missed flight connection
and lost luggage we made it home safe and sound. Lily was a good
little traveler even though she did not sleep at all on the trip
home. There was never a sweeter sight than Luke running as fast
as his little legs could carry him toward us at the airport
yelling "mommy." It was so very good to be home. Daddy was
thrilled to meet Lily as were Luke and Nora and grandparents.
Every day we are getting a bit more settled as a family. Mommy
and Lily are getting over their jet lag. Daddy has been enjoying
getting to finally care for and play with Lily. Nora was not too
enthused about her new sister the first few days but is getting
more used to her. Luke liked her right away and is being a great
helper getting toys and bottles for her.
We took our first family outing to the zoo on Saturday. Lily did
well in the carseat and stroller. She likes being out and about.
Lily also loves swinging and so all three children have been
spending every night outside on our swing set.
Lily continues to make strides developmentally. The first day
home she crawled and a few days after that she took a few steps.
Amazing accomplishments for a child that could barely sit up 2
weeks ago. We were sad to learn at the pediatrician yesterday
that she is not on the growth charts for weight but she is in
the 50% for height. We really need to work to get calories into
her. She has decided that she only wants formula and no solid
foods now. So we are working to coax her into eating more every
day. The first few days getting 18 oz of formula in her was a
major accomplishment. Yesterday she drank 24 oz so every day is
a bit better. The one form of food she loves is popcorn. She
gets so excited about it. The other night all three kids were in
their pj's eating popcorn and watching a movie. It was so good
to have all three in one place and happy!
It is so good to have Lily home and know that she is being well
cared for. It is hard to believe how much she has changed during
the last two weeks. She went from barely being able to sit up,
very thin, afraid of everything to crawling then walking, riding
in strollers, and swinging with her brother and sister. She has
a long way to go before she will be caught up but each day is a
miracle. We are so blessed to have 3 beautiful children. I am so
grateful for our faith that gave us the courage to adopt again
and that God brought Lily home. It has been difficult for us to
see her malnutrition and delays but we are so grateful that God
planned for her to join our family from the beginning of time
and that He has great plans for her life. We cannot wait to
watch her continue to bloom over the coming months.
Thanks so much to all our family and friends and all our online
family too for your prayers and support. God certainly
challenged us on this trip and it was through all of your
prayers that we were given strength. We are most grateful.

for some the journey home just takes a little longer.”
