This week marks three months since Lily came home. She has
gone from being a timid, frail child to an outgoing, silly
one. If we hadn't watched the transformation unfold before
our eyes I would never have believed it possible in such a
short amount of time. Lily loves her brother and sister
and they her. The kids are like 3 little peas in a pod. It
is a joy to watch. Nora and Lily like to fill their
"purses" and walk around the house and dance to music
together. Luke is a great big brother and runs to get
anything Lily needs.
Lily has settled into family life well. She and Nora share
a room and many nights we have to go in two or three times
to tell them to be quiet, it is bed time. (We secretly are
thrilled they are having fun together). Lily went up to
the Ronsman family reunion in August. While she was still
quite shy then and unable to walk, she had fun watching
everyone and spending time with Grandma and Grandpa
Ronsman. When we got home Lily began to crawl and about 3
weeks later she took her first steps. Now she doesn't just
walk, she runs and climbs! Lily went to the Wisconsin
State Fair and had a wonderful time seeing the animals and
had her first cream puff...a Wisconsin tradition. She has
learned the fun of swimming, going for walks, swinging on
a swing set and picnics. She enjoyed the kite festival
here in Milwaukee and loved watching the huge kites fly.
She loves all things out doors and has gone to both the
apple orchard and the pumpkin patch. Her favorite TV show
is "Dancing With the Stars." She loves to sit with Mommy
and dance to the music.
Since coming home she has gained 4 lbs and 6 inches in
height. It's amazing. She still is thin, but we can no
longer see every bone. Her cheeks are filling in and we
love to kiss them. Many things are on the horizon that
will be firsts in the coming months...halloween,
Thanksgiving, Christmas and her second birthday. We are so
excited to be able to share all these things together in
the coming months. Surgery will be in early December to
repair her palate. We have been so tremendously blessed by
this child. She is more than we could have hoped for. I
cannot believe sometimes that she could not sit up in the
early days after we got her. It is truly by faith that we
brought her home and God is true to his promises. Lily is
the perfect fit for our family. We are blessed indeed.
