“The Lord has
done great things for us and we are filled with joy”
~Psalm126:3
When
I finally let myself entertain the idea of starting
the nursery, I knew I wanted something unique. I
wanted it to be a safe haven for creating happiness,
comfort and above all to have a big imagination,
with lots of stimulation for creativity. We
requested a boy or a girl on our dossier so I didn’t
want to go too girlish or boyish.
I began with bedding. I found the ladybug design. It
was simple and appropriate.
I think of myself as crafty, so I was off to the
races now. I began with purchasing inexpensive pine
bins from Hobby Lobby. I covered the drawers with
fabric and ribbon. Inside and out! That lead to the
wooden bins with rattan baskets. A handmade ladybug
lamp, a tissue holder, and each one had to be
embellished with ladybugs, dragonflies, bumble bees
and butterflies. I think Steve though I was a little
touched in the head with all of the projects. It
seemed to help pass the time. I painted night
stands, book bins , shelves and hanging racks. I
even had bear finials hand painted like pandas. I
always wanted a four poster bed as a girl. Funny how
we relive life through our children! I found a great
craft table and a sleeper sofa. Dad found the great
polar bear rug. Not quite a panda bear, but close
enough. Grandma, Grandpa and Godmother Jayne have
found many of the Ladybug accessories. |
