We're Home

Thursday, September 13, 2007

Well I know that there are many of you whom thought I dropped off the face of the planet, alas that is not the case. I have had many challenges since coming home with our little angel. Sienna is allergic to milk, therefore the nutrition she was receiving in China aggravated a condition she inherited. She has very bad eczema. I have come to understand what you see on the skin is only a small representation of the irritation that she has suffered internally. She is on a hypoallergenic formula, Rx's, and several vitamins, for her skin condition. She was absorbing very little nutrition, because of the irritations internally.

Fast forward 7 weeks today and our little ladybug is doing wonderful. She is crawling like she is off for a race. She is pulling to a stand. She can sit up for a very long time now and rolls over on both sides. She is in physical therapy once a week. This week will be her third lesson. She has started swim lessons and loves the water. She still doesn't know how to blow bubbles, but has no problem having her head under the water. She leans off the side of the pool to my arms. Sienna has gained 1.5 pounds after having lost almost 1.75 pounds.

We are so in awe of this little girls ability to thrive. She takes on every challenge with determination. She has a very funny sense of humor and wants to try anything daring. She loves the swings and slides at the playground.

Her Grandparents from Wilmington are here with us right now and we are having the time of our lives playing everyday.

Grandpa Jack wrote a very special story for Sienna. She has a special friend named Sparkle. He is a dragon who accompanied her from China. Sparkle is her protector and confidant. He has many adventures with numerous friends. We read from this book often and tell of things that might be included in upcoming new adventures.

Coming soon will be some wonderful new pictures to bring you up to the present with lightning speed. She is changing so quickly I wanted to share with all of our dear family and friends. Sienna has made remarkable strides in catching up to her chronological age.
