Today has been a very low key day which was nice. We started out
our morning at the White Swan Breakfast Buffet. It is very good
and had a nice variety of Chinese and Western Foods. Lily pretty
much stuck to eggs and sausage. She also ate some fruit. We then
went back to the Civil Affairs office and did the official
paperwork to adopt Lily. The past 24 hours have been the
harmonious period when we decide whether we want to proceed with
the adoption or not. We were asked by Chinese officials if we
were happy and wanted Lily. YES, YES we said. We then went back
to the hotel and had lunch across the street at Shamian Hotel.
We all found it very interesting that you could pick your meal
out at the entrance (see pictures). We are now enjoying rest
time in our room. We have done a little of everything. She was
most excited when we came back to the room and the infamous
White Swan Barbie was sitting on the table. It took all of two
seconds for her to ask me to open it and of course I did. We
played Barbie and I was very shocked again to learn the she can
braid hair. This child is so amazing. We just can’t believe how
fortunate we are to have her. She brings us so much joy. Later
we are going to a Supermarket and then dinner (more Chinese
food!) and then we are going to try swimming. I think she will
like it because this morning when I gave her a bath she loved
it! Her caretaker said she took showers at the orphanage.
Some things we have learned about our girl:
She can blow bubbles with bubble gum!
She eats a lot! I cannot believe all she eats. One thing she
loves is dried seaweed. When given a choice of what to buy at
7eleven that was her first choice.
She loves our little camera and has taken over 100 pictures in
one day.
She loves electronics, just in the last hour she used my laptop
to learn ABC’s and now she is listening to music on my iphone.
She loves shopping, she has a little coin purse with a little
money in it and takes it everywhere. She attached it to her
dress today.
She is an old pro at the squatty potty, no help from Mama
needed!
Tomorrow we do more official business by going to the police
station to apply for Passport. Not sure what else we are doing
but I am hoping for some American Food! Thank you for all the
comments, they are so nice to read and will be a great memory
for Lily when she is older and can read them.

Boys- It was so great to
Skype with everybody today. Lily is doing great. Our guide
started talking to her today about having an American name when
she goes to America. He had a great approach and has been so
helpful with her. She is trying to say some English words but
not much. |
