HALF A YEAR, FLIES BY . . .

Recently we received our request for our 6 month post placement report. It was a great chance to sit and reflect on just how much has changed in the past 6 months. These are just a few things …

Then: Turned and gave us her back when we tried to hug her.
Now: Throws hugs our way all day everyday and kisses too!

Then: Had only a small taste of an American diet (McDonalds)
Now: Embraces many typical American dishes. Her favorites include spaghetti, salmon patties, tuna salad sandwich, roast, chicken nuggets, French fries and pita chips.

Then: Drank 6 oz of fluid a day or less.
Now: Drinks more than 6 oz a fluid each meal and more!

Then: Spoke solely in Cantonese.
Now: Speaks solely in English and is starting to read!

Then: Carried a Chinese Flag and had one in her room.
Now: Is learning the words to our National Anthem, knows the Pledge of Allegiance and asks questions about our flag.

Then: Insisted on wearing socks with all shoes except flip flops.
Now: Finally understands that some shoes you just don’t wear socks with.

Then: Asked us where she should keep her shoes in the hotel and home. They were always returned to that spot.
Now: Leaves her shoes all over the house, just like her brothers.

Then: Would not watch TV at all.
Now: Still could care less except for a little Tom and Jerry!

Then: I couldn’t imagine my life with her.
Now: I cannot imagine my life without her.

Lily has just gotten brave enough to do this.
