SEVEN MONTHS
In the past month Lily experienced her first Thanksgiving,
started Upward Cheerleading and has started to get very excited
about Christmas. This season brings about a lot of firsts for
her and it is so exciting to see them through her eyes, very
different from the usual firsts with a baby.
Thanksgiving was kept pretty simple. We stayed home all day and
then went to have a Thanksgiving Dinner at Lily’s Aunt Tammi’s
house. She was amazed at all the food and gobbled down tons of
Turkey and absolutely loved giblet gravy (something her mother
will not touch with a ten foot pole) on rice. After dinner we
went around and said what we were thankful for. No surprise to
me Lily was Thankful for her mama and daddy. Just a few days
before Thanksgiving she said one night before bed pointing to a
book on her nightstand titled, Thankful Each Day, “I thankful
for my mommy, I thankful for my whoooole family”.
During November Lily started Upward Cheerleading practice. The
first practice she would not do a thing. I was very frustrated
so I left the room. I watched her through the window and she
never did a thing. I came back in the room just as they were
handing her the uniform. I saw a slight smile on her face. She
ran right home and tried it on. I think the uniform did it. The
next practice she halfheartedly participated and then the next
she did great. Down in my heart I knew she just needed to adjust
but I wasn’t very patient with her, thankfully all turned out
well and she cheered the first game on Dec. 5th and loved it.
Lily has started preparing for Christmas. She has been making
crafts, learning Christmas songs and has me reading a Christmas
book every night before bed. She asks a lot of questions and
seems to have this whole thing figured out. She understands that
we celebrate Christmas because it is when Jesus was born and
that Santa comes and will bring her some toys. She is asking for
the baby doll that walks and talks, ATM machine bank, a doll
with long hair.
Lily has become obsessed with snow and snowmen. She asks me
repeatedly when we are going to get snow and I kindly explain
that we may not get any snow because we live in the South. She
was very disappointed so I told her we may go on a road trip to
the mountains to look for snow one day. The very first time she
asked me to pray before bed was for snow. I don’t usually pray
for things like that but how could I tell her no, so I prayed
for snow. She also loves books about snowmen and asked me if
they are real. I explained no that they are not real except in
books and songs. So funny. We have got to get this girl some
snow!
I have noticed lately that Lily is growing. We recently had to
go up 1 ½ sizes in shoes and some of her size 6 pants are
getting too short. She still hasn’t gained a lot of weight but
we are happy with the few pounds she has gained. She eats a lot
so I fell eventually she will gain more.
This past month we had an appointment with an endocrinologist.
We have been waiting on this appointment for a long time hoping
it will give us some answers. She was very nice and very
thorough. Lily has had to have several tests done and we will
meet with the endocrinologist again in a few weeks. We are
pretty sure she has Osteogenesis Imperfecta Type 1 or more
commonly known as Brittle Bone Disease. Type 1 is the mildest
form and luckily she has not had many broken bones. I am ready
to know for sure so we can know whether or not there is any
treatment we need to do now. We probably won’t have a definite
diagnosis until January. I am just so thankful she has a family
and good medical care now to take care of her.
Tune in next month for Lily’s first Christmas. I feel certain it
is going to be fun! |

I love how proper Lily is sitting.
