Today,
Lynden officially became ours!! We went to the U.S.
Consulate to take our oath. It was really a very simple
process and the staff at the Consulate Office was very
nice. When we were there, Brad took Lynden over to the
play area located in the back of the room and she sat and
“read” a book at a table.. She loves books and it is cute
to see her fake reading.
Since we were not allowed to take any cameras into the
Consulate’s Office, we took some pictures of her before we
went. She really hammed it up for the camera as you can
see from the pics.
After the oath, we went back to our hotel for a while. We
went with the group to eat at a really good Chinese
restaurant that our guide, Alison, picked for us. It
served North-Eastern Chinese cuisine. I quickly discovered
that I really like North-Eastern Chinese food. I really
enjoyed the eggplant and candied sweat potatoes (I even
ate our other table’s eggplant dish that they had left)
The candied sweat potatoes were also fun to eat because
you had to eat them fast before they cooled off or they
become stuck together. Our driver laughed at seeing us try
to eat them.
After the delicious meal, we all went on a river boat ride
in the evening. It was very neat because you got to see
other boats and all of the downtown buildings with
colorful lights. Some even had jumbo-trons and moving
laser lights. Lynden and the other children really enjoyed
waving to the boats as they went by and seeing how many
passengers on the boats would wave back. Tomorrow is our
last day before we fly back home.
