Hello again from Nanning. We are doing well today and feeling
slightly more normal. Yesterday was somewhat more emotional and
maybe one of our lows. We think we are just anxious about
tomorrow and missing our family at home. We are doing much
better, however. This am Kathleen slept late while Jeff went
down to breakfast. The food in Nanning and at this hotel is
somewhat less appealing to an American appetite (according to
Jeff). So we opted to head out to the Walmart on our own. We had
the guide yesterday write out “Please take us to the Walmart”
and “Please take us to our hotel, the Majestic.” So we handed
the first paper to the bellman and he called the cab and simply
said “Walmart.” We felt foolish.
Walmart in some ways was the same as the US but also had a
unique smell and lots of different foods. You could buy eel and
all kinds of fishes. We got some good (?) snack food … like
Barbeque Steak flavored Pringles and some chocolate, et cetera.
Interestingly, the Walmart has multiple levels so you could push
the cart up this people-mover like those in the airport.
Kathleen took pictures of Jeff and all the people were laughing.
After Walmart, we went to lunch at Pizza Hut. At Pizza Hut, you
could order all kinds of food including fungi soup, fried
calamari, and seafood pizza. We opted for a thin crust pepperoni
and it was almost like home but not quite. |

We thought it was pretty neat.

This one is for you, Mom. Walmart in China. |
This afternoon and evening we each relaxed, read, and went
through our adoption paperwork one more time. In the evening,
Kathleen got to see a Chinese couple at their wedding reception.
It was really interesting; they looked so young it looked as if
they were going to prom. The bride was in a very poofy white
dress and the groom in a tuxedo but the guests were really
casual.
While in the lobby the group from our adoption agency unloaded
in the lobby. It was really neat to meet them and have some
people to talk to here to discuss all the emotions and the
technicalities of getting the babies. It all starts tomorrow am
so we hope we get some sleep tonight.
Thanks again for all your well-wishes. We cannot wait to meet
Macy. Please pray for her safe travels as the babies have to
travel about three hours to Nanning. Also please pray that all the
babies are healthy and that they transition well. We love you
all.

A Special Note to
Kayleigh and Brayden
We love and miss you. Kayleigh, you would have loved
seeing the bride; she was very beautiful. We are so
excited to meet Macy. It reminds us of the excitement we
felt when we were about to meet you two. We will show her
your pictures right away. We love you; take good care of
each other.
