We're Home

December 2008

Although this post is way overdue, we are glad to say we made it home safely. It took a total of 36 hours of travel and we were thoroughly exhausted but it was wonderful seeing our Kayleigh and Brayden waiting for us. Our flight was delayed in Newark due to an ice storm so we arrived about midnight and the kids were still smiling from ear-to-ear. As you can tell by our picture, we look tired, hot, greasy (and yes we smelled very bad at that point). But it will be a time we will never forget as we introduced Macy to her family. Kathleen’s parents were there and had been such a help.

We're Home!!!!
We drove home and got in the bath and relaxed. The kids were so excited that we did not go to sleep until two or three in the morning. Overall the flights were not too bad. Macy was wiggly and did not like the bassinette. She would intermittently sleep on Kathleen or Jeff and she became a seasoned traveler quickly.

We want to thank everyone who made this journey possible. First we would like to thank our parents, both Kathleen’s mom and dad and Jeff’s mom. We were gone a long time and we are sure it was overwhelming at times but we always knew the kids were loved and safe. We would also like to thank all the people at home who made it special by reading our website and by sending their love, well wishes, and prayers. It was such a comfort while we were away. We would also like to thank our guides in China as their hospitality was overwhelming. They made the trip safe and smooth. We would especially like to thank XiXi- her warmth and caring was overwhelming and she will always be like family to us.

Finally we would like to thank God. We have said many times that this experience is like a love story unfolding before our eyes. God has given us three children who we know in our hearts were absolutely meant to be ours. We could not love any one of them more. We thank Him for His wisdom and grace. Our cup overflows.

We will try to be more prompt with our updates.

All our love,
Kathleen and Jeff
