We all have had a really good day today!
Marossie slept soundly through the night and woke up in a happy
mood so we were ready for the world!
After breakfast we met Bob in the lobby to go to Yuexiu Park and
the pearl market. The park was awesome and we really enjoyed it.
There are miles and miles of steep steps not conducive for
hauling babies in strollers up though so we really only got to
see a small portion of the park's beauty. After the park, we
went to the pearl market. This place is a six level jewelry
mall. James and I bought Marossie a pearl necklace and earrings
for her wedding day (a long, long time from now maybe thirty
years or so). They are beautiful.
After our outing, we came back to the hotel just to rest and
have some quiet time. James got Marossie to take a TWO hour nap!
Excellent job Dad! I am so proud of James, I knew he would be a
fantastic father, but he has just blown me away. He is
everything I have dreamed for my daughter.
Dinner time was spent with a big group of friends at Lucy's. I
am sure that some of you are wondering why Lucy's all the time
when there are so many other good restaurants on the island. The
truth of it is that the food is okay and the prices are just
so,so but the main reason we keep going back is because it is
casual and they offer a very nice menu for the babies. Marossie
really put it away tonight, she had a full serving of chicken
congee, a half serving of mashed potatoes and some French fries
with ketchup (she is very serious about her ketchup) and some of
the beef from my hamburger! I really think that she would have
kept eating until she made herself sick, if we would have let
her.
We did a little shoppy after dinner then came back to the hotel
room, read a book and had a very action packed bath. It is so
fun to watch Marossie really cut loose in the tub, she is wild
and crazy in there.
Marossie is feeling better by the day. Thankfully the
antibiotics are working. She is most bothered now by the mouth
full of teeth she is cutting. It looks like mountain peaks in
there and feels like a meat grinder when I have to put the
numbing gel on her gums! We have noticed since our first day
together that Marossie has little, round, dark scars scattered
over her tiny body. We suspected that she had, had chicken pox
at some point so we asked Bob to call the SWI she lived in and
sure enough, approximately TWENTY days ago she had them!!!!!
Wow, we are oh, so blessed. Some poor families in the recent
past whose babies had the chicken pox have had to stay in China
a while longer than expected due to being contagious. Yet again
our prayers have been answered.
Tomorrow we celebrate one week together and it just does not
seem possible. We are overjoyed to be Marossie's parents! The
next two days are free days for us so there may not be much to
write about, but we will try to at least send in pics of
Marossie so you can get your fix.
Love to you all, all the way from Guangzhou, China!
Only FIVE more days!
