This is it!
We are pretty much packed and ready to come home! We will get up
very early in the morning and be at the airport by 6 AM. We will
try to post a 'We're Home' update within a few days of getting
home and acclimated. Our nightly updates will unfortunately come
to an end. It has been a lot of work to post every night but it
has been wonderful to document our journey for you and for
Marossie one day in the future.
China has been such a life changing experience for both James
and I. We only thought we knew what hard work meant. If you
think you work hard, make a trip over here and see what these
amazing people do day in, day out. I am humbled by this country.
If you know me, you know that my favorite generation of people
are the elderly, some of the elderly citizens of China have
brought me to tears, they are so beautiful and wise. Out and
about I would hope to make eye contact with some of them; some
would just keep their eyes to the ground while most would return
a smile of true genuineness. The kindness that they exude just
from their happy faces touched my soul over and over again. I so
longed for the knowledge to speak their language. On a few
occasions we were stopped by elderly ladies who were curious as
to why we had a Chinese child with us and we were prepared.
Before we left for China, we laminated a card printed in Chinese
that said:
Greetings! We are here adopting a precious child from the
People's Republic of China. We are enjoying your beautiful
country and its friendly people. Our child is a blessing to our
family. Thank you.
The response was overwhelmingly wonderful. We will be back to
China one day and I will know the language next time.
We went to our consulate appointment today. It was so neat to
stand with our right hand raised and swear to care for the
precious child we have been blessed with. Although the
oath-taking ceremony was a bit anticlimactic, I was a little
emotional inside. To think that everything we have worked for
and dreamed about is finally here. We are bringing home our
daughter!!!!!
James and I have so many people we want to thank for so many
reasons. We have had so much love and support from so many
people that it would be impossible to list you all. Please know
that your prayers have meant the most to us and we will continue
to need them! Please pray for our endurance during our long day
of travel.
Family and Friends, we love you! Thank you for coming on this
journey with us.
We can't wait for Marossie to be able to meet her posse!
Dear Duncan Family,
You all are so wonderful, James and I would not have made this
trip without you. Thank you for allowing us to share your
journey. We are honored. You have a beautiful, sweet family and
we cant wait until we can meet up in the future so we can meet
the boys.
Elizabeth, You are a world class traveler! James and I can't
imagine making this trip when we were five years old. We were
impressed with you everyday of the trip. You are beautiful and
sweet and we can't wait to watch you grow up. Thank you for
making our trip to China that much more fun!
Rachel, You are such a joy. James and I are honored to be
involved in a small part of your history. You are beautiful and
your smile can light up a room. We will miss seeing your sweet
face every day.
All our love,
James, Amy and Marossie |
