Today has been great day! Once again, Mary Grace had a wonderful
night’s rest. We heard not a peep from her all night long. We
had nothing on the agenda until this evening, so we had a lazy
morning and could take our time in getting ready.
With all the time we had this morning, we were finally able to
give Mary Grace her first, very much needed bath. We wanted to
wait until she was more comfortable with us and trusted us,
because we thought her first bath would be pretty traumatic for
her. It was actually not as disastrous as we thought. She
whimpered a bit, but seemed like she liked the feel of the warm
water. She was also splashing the water a bit by the end of her
bath. It was so nice having a sweet smelling little one when we
were done.
This evening our group took a stroll through the People’s Park
here in Nanchang and then had dinner at a nearby Chinese
restaurant. Catherine did a great job of ordering menu items she
thought we’d enjoy. She even ordered bean curd for the babies .
. . who would have thought, babies from China love the bean curd
and congee! After dinner, we made a quick stop to see a lighted
fountain show which was choreographed to music and laser lights.
Our day off gave us the chance to relax and get to know Mary
Grace. She really opened up to us today, and we are seeing a
feisty side to this sweet little girl. She is also our little
“Velcro” baby. Doesn’t matter if it’s Mommy or Daddy, she has to
be held! It’s been difficult getting things done around here
these past few days as we’ve been taking turns handing her off
to each other. Should be really interesting when Brad returns to
work.
