Our day began with Mary Grace waking up at 5:00am, way too early
for us! She’s been a great little sleeper, so we’re not quite
sure what happened this morning! We’ve been ignoring her
occasional cries or stirs during the night, and she’ll go right
back to sleep. But this morning, her cries lasted a little
longer, so we had to get up. She didn’t eat very well on
Tuesday, so we prepared a bottle for her, thinking she was just
really hungry. After taking a little bit of her bottle, Delilah
was able to rock her back to sleep, and she slept until 7:30am.
Brad loves spending morning’s bonding with his little princess
while Delilah gets ready. He’s been giving Mary Grace her
morning bottle, playing with her and just holding her and loving
on her. It certainly didn’t take long, but this little girl has
her Daddy wrapped around her little finger.
This morning our group went to the TengWen Pavilion here in
Nanchang. We climbed many steps to go inside the pavilion, and
once there, we took an elevator to the sixth floor, where we saw
a traditional Chinese dance performance. We worked our way down
from there, stopping at one of the floors to take pictures of
Nanchang and the Gan River. We then spent time wandering the
beautiful gardens surrounding the pavilion. Mark even got to use
a big ram to gong a bell . . . the Chinese feel gonging the bell
brings good luck.
After seeing the TengWen Pavilion, we had lunch at another
traditional Chinese restaurant, where the food is served on a
large lazy susan in the middle of the table. Thanks to
Catherine, we again had a delicious meal!
After lunch, we had a free day. Delilah and Dawn, mom to Sarah,
one of Mary Grace’s orphanage “sisters,” ventured out to find
the local grocery store for more water and chocolate, of course.
The number of cars, scooters, bicyclists, and pedestrians around
here is absolutely unbelievable . . . any time of day. But we
chose to take our little excursion during rush hour. It was
crazy! At one point, we were really almost run over by a bus. We
were so happy to make it back to the hotel safely!
More tomorrow . . . our last full day in Nanchang!
Blessings from China,
Brad, Delilah, Mark and Mary Grace |
