Yesterday, we finished the afternoon by going to the notary
department to finalize our adoption papers and then to Wal-mart.
What an experience. Nothing like the US Wal-mart. There must
have been a couple hundred people in Wal-mart. They have a
special escalator where you take the shopping cart down the
escalator to the next floor (food area). We were able to get
diapers, wipes, fruit juice, wash clothes, etc.
It is hot and humid in Nanchang and after our many appointments
and our shopping trip, we were all exhausted and not feeling
well so we missed the group dinner and stayed in.
Today, we are all feeling better. We went as a group to the
local park. The People Park in Nanchang was beautiful. It is
well landscaped. It contained a lake with paddle boats, a small
amusement park and grassy areas where people were practicing the
martial arts. We noted many people practicing martial arts with
swords.
The babies attracted many individual's attention. We were given
cards that explained that we were adoptive parents and we were
able to show the interested people. We received many thumbs up
signs from the people. We met two English majors from the local
university. They are shown in the picture with Melynda and Greg.
They were fluent in English and very interested in why we were
in Nanchang.
This afternoon was a free day. We went to the play room and
played with bubbles.
Each day Melynda becomes more comfortable with us. We were able
to receive many smiles this afternoon while playing with
bubbles.
We have a great guide, Grace who leading us. She is caring,
compassionate and patient. Without her help, this trip would not
have been as enjoyable. You can see her in the picture with
Melynda. She is the one in the pink hat.
Tomorrow we have a tour and are going to the porcelain row for
shopping. Nanchang is know for their porcelain.
