The last two days have been really busy, but a lot of fun. We
are getting to see Melynda's little personality. She such a
Daddy's girl. She is finally letting me hold her for a few
minutes without screaming. She is quick to give us a smile, but
if Greg and I start talking and not including her, she will put
her face up to Greg's face to get his attention. We noted that
she is very flexible. She has the ability to scratch her head
with her foot. You can see this in the picture of her in the
stroller. She loves being in the stroller. She eats really well
and takes a nap twice a day and only gets up once during the
night. She can sleep anywhere from a hot civil affairs office to
a bumpy bus. We are really enjoying spending time each day with
her.
Yesterday we toured the Pagoda in Nanchang. This is one of the
most famous pagoda in China. It is six floors high and over 300
years old. The pagoda has had to be rebuilt 29 times. The
architecture and interior of the building is amazing.
After our tour, we returned to the hotel and spent the afternoon
playing in the room. This was a great bonding experience for us.
We played with stacking cups, her rattles and a book. She
finally giggled. We met as a group for a pizza party and the
girls got to play together. Melynda was a little shy, but sat
for a few group photos. It was fun watching the girls play
together.
Today we went to Porcelain Row to see the shops. Nanchang is
know for it's porcelain. Afterwards, we took a bus ride into the
court side to see a village. Our daughters most likely would
have been from a similar village. The village contained homes
that were over 300 years old and those that are very modern. The
village people were very kind. They invited us into their home,
showed us around and tried to give us cigarettes, drinks, and
ice cream. I was appreciative of their graciousness.
This evening we have a group dinner and tomorrow we finalize our
adoption paper work. We will be flying to Guangzhou on July 5 to
complete Melynda's Visa paper work.
We miss everyone and can't wait till you all get to meet our
little girl. |
